stereo issue

Okay... this was really weird last night when I was leaving my gf's house I started the car but the lights on the stereo didn't light up at all so everything above the climate controls were black.... I tried turning the stereo on, and it did come on and worked... but still no lights... so i turned my light setting from auto to off and then back to auto.. and it came on... its the first time it did it.. and didn't do it this morning.. so not really sure what the deal was..... anyone have this issue before??

My lights where the stereo buttons are located were flickering on me for couple minutes. I turned off the engine and turned on and the problem stopped....weird. Hasn't flicker ever since.

Your turn with stereo problem lol. Thank god I've never had that issue I've had enough, lol.

What I did have before was the whole stereo just shut off, have had that a few times actually.

haha yeah man I hear ya.... yah Jonsmazda it was really weird it worked just the led's in the dash weren't lighting up... like I said... I turned the light switch to the off position then back to auto and they came on and were fine... I figured maybe a fuse was loose or something but checked everything out and everything looks good... so I have no idea

Yeah like really strange.... actually I got kind of worried... cuz I had an LOC installed so I could get my subs put in... and of course I got warned that it better have been done properly lmao.. then that happened I was like "ah Sh*t here we go"

This has happened to me about 3 times now. The first time it happened, scared the crap out of me, but upon restarting the car, it has always fixed itself. Never bothered to ask a tech about it during servicing.

That sounds to me like a sticking/bad relay. That is if the stereo lights are contorlled by one.

I've had this happen to me too, never asked what was wrong, I just always restart the car and it corrects itself. Sorry, can't help you with a solution, if you ever figure it out, let us know.

Stereo and climate control should be different system or mostly. Lets say if you remote start the car, only the air and that system starts up but not the audio.

Because the entire climate system or LCD doesn't light up, did you find that air didn't turn on? Or anything related to that system?

Nope everything else was lit up and worked fine... it was just the top half of the dash with the cd player and the audio controls as well as the display... the display was still working as it was showing the time on the cd.. but it just didnt light up as I mentioned above.. I turned the light setting from auto back to off... then back to on.. and everything came on like normal. It hasn't repeated itself since.... so I'm not sure what happened......

It was strange how it happens... the other day for some reason my air bag light came on on the passenger side saying it was inactive... while my gf was sitting there... and it wouldnt go off.. had to turn the car off and then back on again to get it to finally go off...
