My parents 05 Mazda3 2.3L GT I find that the motor is extremley hot

What i mean is I found the motor to be very hot after just a simple 1 minute start and moving it into the garage...

temp gauge is reading normal, no mods on it, bone stock, and it has a auto tranny, about 48, 780 KM

because my 06 with the same motor but manual transmission is warm but not super hot like the 05....my 06 went through the same procedure, started it up and moved it into the garage...yet did not end up as hot as the 05...

here is the fun part, I just noticed this on a night where it is only like 16 degrees..

so the motor should be cold from the moment I start it and not even get so hot by simply moving it into the garage.

any suggestion on what it could be?

or should I just ignore it and its just normal?

check your coolant level.
Well tell the dealer, something might be wrong.
I rather be a little bit annoying and bug the dealer for incase something is wrong.

Hmm... a car takes several hours to cool down after some daily driving... was it recently driven?

What do you mean by hot? Are you opening the hood and feeling it physically? Normal operating temperature is very hot. If the temperature gauge is reading normal like you say and isn't sticking, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Doesn't hurt to check the coolant level.

And like Elder said, it takes several hours for a car to cool down even in 16C weather. If you drove it recently before you put it in the garage, then I'm not surprised.

Hummm....

let me try to double check the coolant again...I have some spare Redline Water Wetter in the garage, I shall add that to the coolant

I am sure the car was sitting outside for at least aroudn 5 to 6 hours outside...

but I opened the hood and it was blazing hot...

just wanted to double check and make sure the car is statrting to melt to death..

oh well it could be nothing...

thanks for the help

Please note: if the car is cool from the beginning then there is no way the water temperature is normal when you first start the car. The needle will be all the way down. If you start and the needle is near middle range (which is "normal" operating temperature) then the car was driven before and has not cooled down enough.
