I've just bought a pair of Eclipse SE8375 5x7 Integrated Series 3-Way speakers used. I am planning to keep look out for good deals on the internet or Craigslist for another pair of speakers.
With the SE8375, would you guys consider this as a speaker that would be best put in the front or the back? If the quality of these speakers are not that great and better for the back, I would look for something more powerful and better in the front. If they are fine in the front, then it'll look for a pair of cheaper coaxials in the back.
I am planning to buy a small 4-channel amp to power them.
Any suggestions on the placement?
Also, how many of you actually have different brands of speakers in the front and back?

i was going to buy those, they have had good reviews.
if you plan on getting new tweeters as well, then you're gonna want to get a set of components for the front, which would mean these will go to the back.
If you're keeping the stock tweeters, then you can put these anywwhere....5x7 is a direct fit.

My personal preference is to have speakers in the front only, basically for proper sound staging. You might want to replace the oem tweeters in the mirror stocks with ones comparable 'sonically' to the ones in the SE8375's then use your 4ch amp to drive them all.Of course you'll still be lacking in the bass department without a sub.

What you say I would use a 4ch amp to drive them all....(this might be a stupid/newbie question coming up)...do you mean if I get a set of component speakers....it'll take up all 4 channels to drive them....and that means if I put these Eclipses in the back doors...I will need another 2 ch amp to drive them?

I believe Flagrum_3 was suggesting running your door speakers and tweeters on separate channels.
I disagree with his set up. I have components in the front, and coaxial speakers in the rear, and the system sounds great. You are never going to get perfect sound staging unless you can find a place to put a centre channel speaker in.

Sorry, what I meant was to run 2ch to the co-axials and 2ch to the seperate tweeters on the mirror stocks...Although it is all personal preference as to where you place speakers, placing speakers only in the front will by far give you a more life-like staging no matter how little power is going to the rears. And SFW you'd be surprised how well the staging is with the stock speaker placement, anyways like I said its all personal preference. A good idea would be for Centroplolis to listen to both set-ups and decide from there....maybe if he makes the meet on Thursday he can do just that.

haha....I was at the meet tonight but didn't really talk to anyone except Broli cuz he's the only one I know. I only stayed for 30 minutes.
As for my sound setup, if I get another pair of cheapy integrated or coaxial speakers, so that I will have 4 cheap speakers (atleast should be better than stock speakers)...I guess I can install them with the stock deck and see how the sound is first. Then if it's still not too much improvement....then I will pick an aftermarket deck.
I know that you all going to say that in the front, components will sound way better but if I can get 4 cheapy Eclipse or Infinity coaxial speakers.....they should sound 'pretty good' compared to stock....right? Or am i still wasting my time and money if I am not installing components in the front. I do still have my stock tweeters though! hehehe :)
