it's sad when a strengthening of our dollar is bad for ones economy
in this world of globalization... you'd think it's good...
but what can you do... a strong dollar represents a strong economy...

not a good thing for exports
but great for importing

anyways
i'm going to philly this weekend
picked up 400USD for 410 bucks this morning
it's great!

Its poor news for the economy. It won't get better either people.

TD Canada is predicting a 1.06CDN per 1.00USD by christmas.

I live in Windsor and its an automotive city with the big 3 and many tool & die shops. The dollar has been hurting business here in Windsor where plants have to close down. I work for a supplier of a Japanese car manufacturer and were lucky to have them as a customer even though our company is not making as much money as it did several years ago when the exchange rate was lower. Tough times in my area but i do live next to Michigan so it does have some perks in terms of shopping :)

I Think this is good... it will really be good for some people and bad for others but as for the others Its not that bad.. Look how good the country was off back in the 1976 when it was a dollar USD.. also most manufacturers buy there equipment from the US and this equipment is going to be alot cheaper..

i swear the us has planned this the whole time so they can make money off of us travelling to the states to buy shit... its all a conspiracy:bana we make money here then spend it there, and since bush already signed to have a unified north american dollar this is just one more step closer

That's pretty paranoid. Although I don't get why most importers still charge us as though the dollar was .60-.70 of a USD.

while this seems cool... its going to Kill Canada's economy... most exports are getting whooped right now by the asian and south american markets... and this is only gonna hurt us that much more... now why would you buy something at par... when you can still go to south america and get better value for your dollar.... sadly the Us is going to stop buying alot of products from Canada as its not cheaper anymore... which is going to Kill Canada... while its true our economy is doing quite well right now.. by standards its still not that good...

Good for consumers... in the really short term. As most have said, this is disastrous to our economy. :(

I hope the parity is not artificial, if we see the USD go down even more I'd be worried about the bastids trying to play one over on the stupid sheep and push for the introduction of the AMERO
