my car is now past its 3yr comprehensive warrenty but im still within its 4 year drivetrain coverage. what im looking at getting done is the engine mount that theres been a tsb on. are the engine mounts considered drivetrain and would be covered under warranty still?

oh yeah how much mileage does the 4 year cover up to? im just shy of 60K right now.

Interesting. I'm not sure what they consider the engine mount. Technically it's a suspension component for the powertrain, not actually a powertrain component.

4:00 am... 6:55 am... Damn you guys are up early/late.

Your Powertrain is 5yrs or 100,000km BTW.

And the engine mount is considered to be part of that warranty, so if it is the engine mount, your golden.

got my car in yesterday and they ended up replacing my engine mount that was under warranty. the tech that was working on my car was good and took the time to show me the old engine mount and explain to me whatever else. Holy crap, when i saw the old engine mount the two halves weren't even connected except by the thin rubber bit on the top.

funny thing though, when i mentioned using synthetic oil every tech/ rep that was within hearing range jumped on me and said i shouldn't use it because Mazda doesn't recommend it? The tech warned me about possible warranty issues but i went and talked to one of the service reps about this and the only reason i was able to get out of them for not using syn was that its just not necessary and a waste of money. the only engines that syn voids warranty on is the rotarys because they need to burn a bit of oil for lubrication.

Really? I use synthetic, maybe it is a waste of money...

True that rotarys burn oil while it is running, but you are not supposed to use synthetic in that engine at all.

Do not use either synthetic or semisynthetic motor oil. Otherwise engine starting performance could worsen.

Recommended Oil

Use SAE 5W-20 engine oil.

Oil container labels provide important information.
A chief contribution this type of oil makes to fuel economy is reducing the amount of fuel necessary to overcome engine friction.

Wow, luckily i read this. If i were to get a car i'd honestly use synthetic thinking because i want to baby my car. Weird, i always thought synthetic was the best type of oil to use

is there a noise when the engine mount is shot? i only ask because I hear a noise sometime when I start the car...it is hard to explain the sound
