2 veteran drivers on 'Fast' track for Universal
By Borys Kit
Oct 3, 2007

Rev those engines!

Vin Diesel and Paul Walker are in negotiations to reunite for the fourth installment of Universal's "Fast and the Furious" franchise. Justin Lin and Chris Morgan, who were behind "Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," are returning to directing and writing duties, respectively.

Neal Moritz will produce the as-yet-untitled installment along with Diesel, who will produce through his One Race Films banner.

The story line is being kept under wraps, but fast cars are involved. A spring start is anticipated with shooting in Los Angeles, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

The first "Furious," released in 2001, was a surprise hit, grossing more than $144 million and creating a franchise for the studio while making stars our of Diesel and Walker. Only Walker returned for the sequel, "2 Fast 2 Furious," and sat out the third installment, 2005's "Tokyo Drift." That movie had relative newcomer Lucas Black in the driver's seat but did feature Diesel in a cameo at the end of the movie. His appearance was so well received that it was even mentioned in ads.

Jeff Kirschenbaum is overseeing for the studio.

I like the FandF movies. I'll go watch the next one. Having said that, I'm not super excited for it.

Ok I'll admit it. Tokyo Drift was entertaining (after I checked my brain at the door).

2F2F was absolutely terrible.

Maybe the 4th one will be entertaining if you suspend reality.

A lot of people didn't like Tokyo Drift. You have to go knowing everything (acting and storyline) are gonna suck. The driving and the cars were nice, that's what counts. The opening scenes of Drift was the best.

I think the movies are enjoyable, but agree.. you have to check your brain at the door. It's all in good fun.. and good for a laugh :chuckle

After 2F2F, I was expecting TD to be bad... but even I was surprised by just how bad it ended up being!

Of course, all the car scenes were good fun and made the movie worth watching, and that's all I really wanted to see anyway so it was all good.

Man... was it ever bad though. :)

looking back on them, you start to realize how fake the really are.
like in the second one (IIRC), when they all jump over the bridge, there is no way in hell they'd be able to land that, and finish the race.
and in the first one, when paul walker is racing vin deisel, how come when it says 'danger to manifold', his passenger side floor flies off??

F&F movies is like the Initial D live action. You get to watch the cars do their thing. But acting / story is just ... blah.

I hate them fopr bringing out another one not so much the movie itself but i worry that because of this we are going to have another repeat of what happened the other 3 times and they are gonna try and lay the law down harder. I dont care about the movie its just the fact all of this speeding laws and what not have all resulted because f these movies
