Hey guys,

I've been trying to find out if this is a new feature for the '07 mazda 3's. If I'm listening to the radio/aux/cd, when I increase my speed, i notice that the volume hits it's peak and when I slow down, the volume goes lower.

I've seen this feature on much more expensive cars like the mercedes/bmw but I'm wondering if anyone else experiences this.

My previous ride was an '05 and I don't recall it doing that.

thanks,

- Crimson

Isnt that the ALC control or whatever its called? You set it when you push the right tuning knob and you can set it to level 1, 2, or 3. I think its in all years.

Speed sensitive volume control is NOT a feature only commonly seen on expensive cars. Maybe they were way back in the day but even my '96 Chevy Lumina had that feature and I'm sure other older and less expensive cars did as well.

Mine's an '05 and it has ALC. Maybe you just didn't have it turned on.

Yeah, my Sunfire's got it. J-bodies have been doing it since at least 2000 and probably earlier.

Yeah my 2000 Z24 had it and so does this car. I hate that feature. Disabled it in the old car and in the 3.

I didn't mind it at first, but then I noticed a lot of distortion. Turned ALC off and no more distortion.

It's called SCV in GM cars. Speed Compensated Volume.

I've always liked it. It's gimmicky, and it amuses me. :)

I've turned off ALC and so my volume remains constant when I'm using the radio, but I swear it keeps going up and down with speed when using the aux input. Doesn't bother me, but has anyone else found this?
