I did a search but could not find anything helpful about the Goodyear Nordic winter tires. Canadian Tire is currently having a sale on these tires and if anyone has had experience with them, can you share your thoughts?

They are less expensive than the Michellin X-Ice and if they are equally as good, i would not mind get a set for under $700.

my mother uses them on the corolla (Nordic ice tires). I think they perform very well (at least compared to the stock michelin mx4's). Very grippy in the snow and noise level wasnt too loud.

Steel Case (this is from last year), recommended the Gislaved over the X-ICE. I got quoted a 640. I got a set of Hankook W409 (but in 195/65/15, for my guardian's car (not mazda)) for $230 (in the states). I've no idea how good the W409s are but Tires23 told me to get this, if I'm worried about extreme snow conditions.
I couldn't find anything about the Nordic on 1010tires or tirerack.
Call tires23 and/or steel case tires to see what they recommend.

I believe the Goodyear Nordic tires were specially made for Canadian Tire. I don't believe you would find them anywhere else but there.

I think you're right b/c I buy direct from Goodyear and that tire isn't in the book. Just the Goodyear Ultra Grips.

I guarantee that Goodyear calls it the Goodyear Nordic tires made especially for CT but call it under a different name when they sell them else where.
Its like back in the day when you saw a Sears tv. It had their logo on it but it was probably made by RCA, Panasonic or whomever.

the Goodyear Nordic's have been around for a long time under the CT brand... they were previously the Nordic Ice Trac and have been around for a few years.. I have an old set of them from my civic.. tires are great.. my sister bought a set last year for her Elantra and they ran great.. the only down side to these tires are there speed rating they are rated for up to 140km/h I believe... which is a pain when its nice and your on the hwy... I was warned by my mechanic that going over that speed on the hwy can be treacherous as the tires will just shred.... but they are great tires, grip very well and for the price oyu can't go wrong.. probably what i'm going to put on my car for this winter

Not sure if this question has been asked before, but which tire is better: GoodYear Nordic or Michelin X-Ice?

I am highly considering these tires based on feedback I have gotten. With a price of $700, you cannot go wrong.

I bough these last year and been happy with my decision. With the amount of snow we got in Manitoba last yr, the tires performed well.

yeah for the price of them you can't go wrong.... as to answer your question the Michelin x-ice I've heard mixed reactions about.... my friend bought a set for his car last year... and I honestly felt the ice tracs handled better.... but thats just my personal opinion.... honestly speaking the ice tracs are definitely BANG FOR THE BUCK!!!

So I go into Canadian Tire after work today expecting to purchase the 4 tires w/ the steelies package. I wanted to get the P205/55R16 with the steel rims for $682 and gunmetal 8-spoked wheel covers for $38. Turns out the steelies don't fit the 07 Mazda 3 so I asked about the 06 M3 but it was the same. Since they are new cars the steelies dont fit properly. So I ended up getting the alloys package for $782 and with taxes came up to $892. First of all, damn taxes! Second, it comes with free installation but mounting and balancing are extra. I also found out that I can store my tires at the store until I decide to put them on which is mid to late November.
Not a bad deal right?

Goodyear Nordics are new to CT the last couple of years, The IceTrac tire was made by BGGoodrich but I could be wrong. Both are great tires for the price. You made a good purchase.

I don't know who you talked to but I was able to purchase tires and steel rims for my MZ3 from CT.

I think in the end I'm happy with the alloys b/c if I would have gotten the steelies, I would have also bought wheel covers for another $40. So in the end the alloys only cost me $60 more. Now my next goal is to find cheaper 16" alloys than $89.99 each.
Any suggestions?

Deal with Tires 23.
You can get a better tire than the Nordic's for only slightly more $.
I picked up a set of Gislaved NordFrost 5's from them on Saturday installed, balanced, taxes in for less than what the Nordic's would have cost when you add in the balancing, and taxes you have to pay at CT.
Needless to say, the Gislaved are better than the Nordic's.
Also, to the poster above, the X-Ice are a better tire than the Nordic's as well.
If you aren't in the GTA, then the Nordic's may be a good deal for you, and snow tire would be better than an all-season tire for the winter.
I read somewhere that the new Goodyear Nordic's are in fact a re-badged version of an older Goodyear Ultra-Grip model.
I puit a set of the old Nordic Ice-Trac's on my ex's Civic and they were decent but nothing great about them.

The current Canadian Tire Nordic tires use the same tread pattern as a european Goodyear Ultragrip 500 and have pretty good reviews.

CanadianDriver.com also has a relatively good review on them.

I bought a set of 4 for my Maxima last year and my conclusions are:
- excellent on snow
- average on ice for a snow tire (my other car, the Mazda uses Toyo's GARIT KX's which are better but more expensive.)
- average on dry pavement
- excellent on wet pavement
- noise a bit on the high side
- a bit soft even for a snow tire
- overall a slightly above average snow (not exceptional) tire but would not recommend if you drive high speed a lot, in that case spend the extra money on a set of Michelin's or Toyo's)

I bought a set last year and are quite happy with them, that being said I went right from the stock tires, rsa's to these so it was a big difference.
