With the Canuck-buck doing so well and US prices so good, has anyone ordered stuff from Tirerack in the past? They say their shipping charges include Canadian duties and taxes, but does anyone know if UPS still hits you with a brokerage charge?

From what I've been reading, anything through UPS will cost you brokerage fees.

The big plus with Tirerack.com is that they are Canada friendly. They have a fixed $20 brokerage fee that they charge with your order so there are no extra fees charged by UPS when the order is shipped.
From http://www.tirerack.com/about/using.jsp
"Canadian Customers: Taxes and duties are collected on behalf of the applicable Canadian government agencies. No additional taxes, duties, or fees will be collected by UPS Canada upon delivery. Delivery, though, may be delayed by customs procedures."
i've j/ ordered a pair of valeo Ultimate wiper blades from tirerack,
on sale, buy 1 blade get 1 more blade free. total came to approx. $33 w/ shipping, no duties/brokerage cuz these are made in US/Mexico...
however, one of the size is on back order, surprisingly, they gave me
a call today durin' lunch hour and ask if i wanna wait or cancel my order.
i'm cool, no rush w/ them, so i told them i can wait....

That's the info I was looking for. The 18" tires I was interested in for spring are $85 per tire cheaper at tirerack than at 1010 tires, even after all the shipping etc. factored in.
I figured I will try local first to see how close they are to tirerack.

my buddy has purchased from TireRack a couple of times. He placed the order and had the tires shipped to an installer in Buffalo. Then he drove the car to Buffalo with his old tires and had the new tires installed and old tires thrown away. Just punch in the postal code for Buffalo and the website will list all the installers in that area

Ok so if i were to order a set of tires for my mom's van. The tires are listed $102Us. So how much in total would i have to pay to my doors? I got quoted $600 cash tax in. from a shop in toronto.
when i pressed on the shipping quote, they listed $103. So would it be better to get it in toronto?

Yeah I dont know whats up with there phone #'s.. but I have ordered every tire I have ever owned from there so far... and I have YET to find ANYONE beat there pricing and they haev a MASSIVE stock so all you have to do is order, slap down a cc# and your addy.. and they will be at your door in no time. I had my last tires mounted at mazda because I had some coupon to have it done for free with an oil change... and the tech guy who mounted them asked to see my invoice when I told them how cheap I got them for because he couldn't believe it... lol.. that speaks for itself.

These sound like great deals, guys, but what happens if you have issues with the tires e.g. out-of-round (I've experienced this with 2 of 4 Dunlops I bought locally) or other quality problems?
Tirerack finally had the sizes I needed in stock so I went ahead and ordered a set of Dunlop Wintersport 3Ds for my BMW - 2x 225/45R17 and 2x 245/40R17, V-rated. The great thing about Tirerack is that all customs and brokerage fees are prepaid, so there's no guesswork and surprise when it arrives at your door. With everything said and done, it came to $881, which is over $300 cheaper than the lowest quote I got locally.

You take your chances really, but i think that over a few sets, if i happen to get 1 that is no good im still saving much more

My brother in law ordered some rims and when they came they were not correct. They came at different times from 3 warehouses but he returned them through UPS and got a refund from tirerack. I think he had to pay some of the initial shipping still. I will check it out with him next time I see him.

picked up 4 Dunlop 3D winter tires from there with no problems.
My roommate picked up 4 19" rims as well as rubber for them and then added on some 17" winters for his other rims and everything arrived perfectly..
They are great, my friend missed out on the Discount Tire deal so he bought some winter tire and rims from them, total turn around was 5 days.
