I'm planning to get a set of winter tires with steelies, and I'm wondering if it's mandatory to get the TPMS installed, or I can do without?
i dont think Canadian models have that feature

I'm not a fan of that feature. Our Corolla has it, but it isn't terribly accurate. Nothing substitutes for a good pressure gauge.

I believe Vlad is correct. It was the American models with this feature not the Canadian models.

Did they pass that law that says all cars need them in the States as of a certain date? I know it was bandied about... just not sure if it was passed.

I read the manual and it mentions the sensor. It's a good thing that we don't need that thing in our wheels. :bana2 I check my tire pressure every week or two anyways.

The MANUAL also mentions Nav system...
The Canadian models do not have either as of now or in 2008.

I think you meant "The manual also mentions Nav system..."?

Yellow light directly to the left of the oil light. AFAIK, that is a TMPS light. I could be wrong, and of course, if it is the TMPS light, it may not exist in the MPS or newer '3 models.
Isnt that the power steering light?

i believe that is a traction sensor according to some of the other cars that i have seen, if i am not mistaken
EDIT:
I stand corrected

No TPMS light comes on after switching to winter tires, so I believe the 08 MZ3 doesn't have the sensor. Which is a good thing IMO. :)

ok so I'm reviving a bit of an old thread here...
I'm looking into getting winter tires and steel rims for my 2008 Mazda3 GT. I've been reading the manual and they talk about the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) on our cars. I'm trying to determine whether or not Canadian Mazda3's have this feature.
Most people in this thread seem to say no but I was wondering if I could get a bit more feedback about this.
Have other owners with an '08 changed tires and have they had any issues with the TPMS? i.e. did the warning light come on the dashboard?
Thanks!!! :)

They do not have TPMS. On my '08 I have aftermarket rims, no TPMS sensors, and no blinking orange lights on my dash

TPMS is not available up here in Canada. I called Mazda on this and they confirmed that Cdn models do not come equipped with this feature.
