Hey everyone,

Got into my car on Friday, and my status LCD area started going crazy, where the radio station is shown and the time and all that.

It looked really strange, so got home , shut down the car and started it back up, same thing.

Figured it was just a glitch, so got in the car the next day, and it was still going crazy, basically everything on the LCD was going off, matrix fashion.

Called the dealership as I was concerned it would affect either the airbags or the abs, and my wife had the car.

They said it was a known problem, and to just bring it in. I was trying to explain the problem to the service guy, and he just mentioned " looks like the matrix right??" I said "yes man, you know what I'm talking about"

I'll try to take a video of it tomorrow, really strange, but getting it fixed on Tuesday, as he said it has no impact on the electronics, just needs a new display.

(but I can't tell what radio station I'm listening til then) haha.

First problem with the car so far, good thing it's a small one.

Well, went to take the video today, and got in the car to take it to the dealer, and poof.

Back to normal, even the time is still right.

Really strange.............oh well it's back to normal.......

stuff like that tends to happen...when u want it to work it doesn't, when u need to show someone it magically disappears..glad to hear the problem is gone...for now at least

Mine just started this on Friday! It didn't come back yet. What's Pi$$n' me off is that I just got a new TOM TOM with MP3 and a built in Transmitter. Its a pain to find out what station I am on to set the Tom Tom.

I'm wondering if I pulled the power to it if it would reset. The problem is then I wouldn't have my presets to reference for FM stations if the screen doesn't come back.

Any one else have any experience with this?

Hey, this just happened to my mazda 3 also. Its been 3 days and the display has not come back yet. I don't mind the matrix look. I tell people I can still read the display. lol.

Something that was interesting is that it started happening the same day I got one of those FM transmitters for my Mp3 player. It plugges into the cigarette lighter. Do you think it could be related to that?

I have not tried unplugging the battery yet, but I will later this weekend and post about it.

Mine went crazy about a year ago, the dealer took care of it in under 5 minutes. Software flash or something like that, all under warranty, no problems since.

i had the same issue, i had the dealer replace the LCD screen and upon doing so i also got updated firmware where it showed the remaining mileage for gas reading. i think this is a known issue with the screen cause my dealer gave me no hassle about replacing it.

That should have been done before you picked up the car or at your first service appt.(provided you do service at a dealership).

Funny... last time I was at the dealer, I had a list of items to check out. This included the tranny grinding going into 3rd, the radio display flickering, and one of the passenger side speakers buzzing like it was bad.

They couldn't repro any of them, and none have happened since. :chuckle

i picked my car in sept. 2005 so i dont think that was a known issue for the MY2006

I had that problem the other day too. I was wondering if the car was possessed or something. I did not say a word to the dealer for fear they would think I was crazy like they think I am about the Pinging noise problem the car has. :flaming

well. i took it into the dealer and they would not replace it because I am over my km's for the warranty. as if the km's have anything to do with my LCD lol. so i left it alone... one night i was doing a power slide in the sobes parking lot and BAM! LCD back to normal. Its been fine ever since then. Maybe the car just needed a kick in the pants?

yea this thing has been happening recently for me!

it just keeps flickering for no reason

i thought it might have been other sources draining it........

it's weird!
