Airbag light on

Hey guys,

Last night, I noticed my airbag light turned on and stays on.
I know there were previous threads on this long time ago and there was a TSB out on it. The one about the sensor cracking in the cold or something.

My question is, I didn't take it in back in '04 because i never had the problem.
I'm now over my warranty, but will they still take care of it as a "warranty" issue? meaning I won't have to pay for any repairs or anything?

Oh, and does this mean my airbag won't go off if I hit something??

did ya place anything on the passenger seat? i noticed that when i put my school bag on the passenger seat, the light comes on..

+1 School bag, or even a bag of milk will turn the light on.

It wasn't the passenger airbag one though. It's actually the one on my dash.
I've had the passenger one on before when I put something light on there, like a bag.

Yes it means your airbag won't go off if you hit something. I think they'll fix it no charge as it could be a legal issue due to the recall. I could be wrong.

When I had my issue just after purchase I was told to not drive my "new car" as it wasn't safe to drive with the light on. The dealership tried to give me a rental for 6 weeks. Until the part came in. I was furious.

So... I think they'll fix it IF it is related to that problem. If it is something else... you may be out of luck.

Best thing to do is take it in and find out. But make sure you find out if its free or not before they do any work. Maybe bring up the fact that your car didn't go in for the recall.

Wierd. I might still get it looked at just in case.
