I purchased a used 2004 GT sedan this past September. Since the first time that ice has formed on my winshield, my drivers side wiper has been freezing to the windshield and needed to be removed by hand. This morning I had tried using the wipers and the drivers side arm did not move. I tried freeing the wiper first and then tried it again. No dice. After checking the wiper I noticed that even with the drivers side wiper raised it only moved a little bit. I believe the motor is working properly but there is no resistence in the wiper arm to move. How do you fix this and how much does it cost to fix?
remove the black cap on the arm and use a 12mm soket

Soon as I can find a 12mm socket I will try to tighten it again. I think the teeth are pretty worn though. Hopefully I won't need to replace that part. Thanx a lot man. I don't know what I would do without you guys and TM3!

Update: I went to crappy tire and bought myself a socket wrench set for $17. I tried it out and my wipers worked. Wayyyyyyyyy cheaper then me going to the dealership to get it fixed. Thanx again!
yay i was useful once again :)

My turn...
I just cleared off the ice and snow from my car, but didn't clear away enough of the ice holding down the wipers... when I started it up and hit the wipers to clear off the last snow residue, I didn't realize the tip of my driver's side blade was still encased in a chunk of ice... Long story short, the motor turned the arm, but the tip stayed planted in place... I now have a totally contorted wiper arm that flails around uselessly (and interferes with the passenger arm)...
Anyone know what a new arm might cost to have replaced?

Update....
I went to the dealership to get the wiper replaced and my oil changed. They quoted about $130 for the repair, which I thought was not bad... Turns out they told me on the phone they had the part, but when I got there, they didn't actually have it... So one of the techs fixed the twisted arm some how... got it pretty much perfect, so I don't have to have it replaced any more. Oh, and he did it for free becaue of the screw up with the part. :)

We're having the same problem with the lazy drivers side arm.... I tightened it pretty tight, but it loosened up again last night. Next thing to try is thread locker... Never heard of this problem before on any vehicle? Whats the deal with this?
