Hey guys.. i jus put my winters on today.. toyo garit HT Unidirectional 215/55/16.. and im on stechs.. ,seriously.. its freaken low with the snows on.. like there is no gap..

anyways.. my first drive today on the highway and i noticed the steering response was very loose, or slugish.. like my tires were made from playdough.. .. when driving.. it felt like my ride was swaying from side to side...

Please.. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check that all your lugnuts are tight, and check your air pressure.

Other than that, the bit of squirrelliness in the handling is a side effect of the large separations between the tread blocks. Of course, this is also what gives you so much more traction in the snow.

Remember that tires are always a compromise. Winter tires will treat you well, but you have to respect the fact that they're not high performance tires and don't go throwing your car into corners as though it were July.

You can get winter tires that are stiffer and have less of this play, but they won't work as well in the snow.

Tires are all about compromise. :)

^Like Weasel said but don't forget, your on snows> higher profile, plus softer rubber its expected that they will be a little looser than the oem tires, but give them time to break in and you'll also get used to it.

+1 on what Flag/WW said.
also keep in mind you are on 215/55. So your sidewall is even taller than 205/55.
The steering response is a bit sluggish.
My steering response on 205/55/16 is sluggish compared to my stock tires as well.
