Hi all, this afternoon I received my RX-8 wheels and headed directly to Lorenzo to have it sandblasted, that place looks VERY OLD and people as well. :) I'll post pics once I have it back. I hardly passed 50 posts so I can sell my old rims in Buy/Sell section. :chuckle

Edit: Sorry mod, I posted in the wrong section.

Who's Lorenzo? What shop or business is he from? Please make sure your thread title is specific next time.

By the way I'm jealous about your RX-8 wheels. What colour are you getting?

I am curious too and what doe they charge. I was looking at doing this too in and found a Place in London Ontario (where I live) and it was going to be about $150.00 per wheel to blast and powder coat. OUCH!

Sorry about the thread title. I'll do as Garu's color, dark gunmetal. The guy there charged me $140 cash a set. You actually have a better deal because I'll have to spend another $250 for powdercoating, so total would be $390.

errr Nicker's price would be $600 for a set all said and done

yours is $390

I don't think thats a better deal :chuckle

I got mine for 240 chemically stripped and powder coated from fancy pants in Waterloo. However, he has since then jacked up his price.

tell me how does the powercoat hold up on the wheels. That was one of my worries. Especially when mounting and dismouting tires.

I believe the power doesn't chip because it is baked it. However, fading is an issue.

I could be wrong though

you are fairly accurate from my experience. My wheels were powder coated 3 years ago. No chips, minimal fading. Fading tends to be a larger problem, when you have a clear coat on the powder coat. As the clear wears down over time.

Does it fade toward darker color or lighter?

I would assume lighter

I would assume lighter

actually, it all depends on the base colour. If you have a dark(say black, or gun metal) base powdercoat, and then clear coat that to add shine. The fading of the clear would in fact make it look darker.

Lorenzo Blasting finally finished the job. Pictures I took before I brought them to Quy's Coating.

Here I want to thank Garu and yellowmp5 for providing me good info about sandblasting and powder coating. Now I just can't wait to put them on. Where can I get some black lug nuts?

Those look sweet, so all in all it cost you $390! Not bad, money well spent.

Yeah, I own a black sedan, and I hope it'd look good on the car. BTW, anyone knows where to get black lug nuts?

Do you have the business info ie. address, number, contact, for where you took your rims to get sandblasted?

One suggestion is that you can get Rays lug nuts.

Not sure if that is still available though.

Another suggestion is Works lug nuts.

This guy is giving away a set if you buy his rims. Maybe you can ask him if he's willing to just sell you the lugs. From the picture, I can't tell if they are black though.

I hope this helps, cause I noticed how no one answered your question and you tried posting it twice.:whoa:)

very well done I must say, gives those RX8s that bit extra oomph that
makes them all that much sweeter. Earlier on, I thought about RX8s and
then gave up on it, your rims have really got me thinking about those again.
Good Job!

you can still get rays/work lugs...i know tires23 has them, i got mine there....only thing about the lugs is that you have to be careful when installing/removing as not to marr/scratch the colouring off.

If the colour comes off you could always get them re colored. When my friends and I used to race mtn bikes... we used to get our bike parts done.
