hello everybody...
i have a mazda 3 sport GT model...with 16 " wheels stock...and i would like to equip it with 18" rims and i would like to ask you...if everyone knows...if it will fit without any other changes...suspension...and if you know that will fit, with what tyres...'cause i want to put 225/40/R18 on front and 245/40/R18 on rear...also i want to say that i want the rims to have 8J width...but also 7.5J would take into consideration...just to fit...:)i wait answers from who knows...i hope it will fit without any other changes because m3 mps comes stock with 18"...thanks
245's on the rear...i don't think that will work, why would you want to go so wide???

Its useless to run different sizes front and back because you have a FWD car. Also you wo'nt be able to rotate your tires. 8inch wheels will require 235 tire so that will be the max you can run with that car unlowered. IF you lower it then 225 is the max for 18s. Another thign is, going such a wide tire will decrease your cars performance because of so much contact on the road and it will affect your mileage.

so....what would yo recommend me between rims: 17" x 7.0 (17" x 7.5) ~ 45mm offset with tires 225/45 R17 back and front and rims: 18" X 7.5" ~ 42mm offset with tires: 225/40/R18???
because the contact surface of the tire is the same....225, the only difference being R18 or 17???if you consider that also on 18" will fit without lowering the car....
thanks

I think if you go 18" x 7.5" then you should try and get ~ 45mm offset. 225/40/18 should be fine.

what do i like to ask you..if you know if there is such a big difference of weight between 17" and 18" rims...is there more than 11 lbs per rim???and..i know that it isn't the right place to discuss about body parts...but i would like to convert it to mps body...hood+front and rear spoilers and side skirts....will they fit???or the mps version is wider???
and in the front part...besides the hood and spoiler, does it need to be ordered something else???because on the GTA version from 2005, the 2.0 l 150cp...the front part has the spoiler and the the radiator grill stuck to the hood...which the mps version doesn't have because is integrated in the spoiler...

The weight of the rim really depends on what set of rims you purchase. 11lbs per rim is considered pretty light lol. If you're willing to pay big $$ for a set of rims, then you can get very light rims.
I know you can swap the rear bumper of the mazdaspeed 3 onto a regular 3. There is also a taiwanese vendor on Ebay that is selling repro mazdaspeed 3 spoilers for regular 3s. The front I wouldn't know, ask Flipdaddy on that one. :)

i would like also to change the front spoiler...and the hood because i saw that they're linked....the mps hood is shorter and they won't fit one without the other..

What style of rim are you looking for? There are so many options and price ranges. Plus look at the Classifieds section.

the price range would be between 1500-2000 euro without tires....but i just don't know the model...i would rather want 5-star design...like oz canyon....or like the rx-8 18" rims....i saw a few 3's with those and look nice...but if i still spend money on them, i would just want something different from stock...and can't decide...what do you think about OZ???are they light??
Tokic_o

With that amount of money, I think you could look into other brands such as Volk and Work. But if you really like OZ rims, I think the ultralegerras would look gd on a 3.

why do you say to look at other brands...is too few or the ones that yo said are better???
there is a guy who put cx-7 18" wheels...225/40/18 on mazda 3 and fit but changing the suspension....
if i don't change the suspension will i have problems???

No if you don't change the suspension you will have no problems at all. He lowered his car and the rims still work, therefore if you don't lower your car the rims should work for sure.
I mentioned to look at other brands because those are also nice wheels that you could purchase with your money.

ok..thanks a lot...i hope that with 18" wheels and normal suspension, on 5 persons load the wheels won't hit...
Just get 18 x 7.5 get a 45+ offset or higher
You can fit 18 x 8 with a 48+ offset but that will vary between suspensions and camber adjustments etc.
With the cash you are looking to throw down check out
Volk, Work and OZ
I am sure you'll find something you like within those three companies that fit.
18's tend to weight more obviously because of size but even if they are light weight they are a larger diameter and having a larger rotating mass. If you want your car to be setup to perform then get some 17's. Do not run different sized wheels, its pointless for this car.
As for your comment regarding "better stability", you got 4 wheels underneath you thats stable enough... unless you are pertaining to body roll then look into a coil-over suspension setup and a set of sway bars.
does sport gt came with 17"? 225/40/18 at 42+ offset and 5 ppl in car? ooooohhhh, 92+ then. dont go too low profile.

Your GT should have came with 17s. Was it bought from a dealership?

I think only GT with GFX package comes with 17s. Otherwise normal GT do'nt come in 17s.

Sport GT = 17"
You are correct for a sedan, but not sport.

Try again.
You either have a Sport GS with the 2.0 motor, or the GT with 2.3 motor. There is no 1.6.
Did it come with a spoiler on the back of the hatch? You realize the sport is the hatch right?

Umm...he doesn't live in North America. He actually lives in Europe, so in his case his hatch has a 1.6.

yes FLIPDADDY you are right...the European versions differ from U.S. ones...
here GT is 1.6 i or 1.6 DOHC diesel...and came with no wing spoiler....
i added it and also the entire GTA body kit later:D, the GTA being the 2.0 i 150 hp version...
we don't have 2.3 l as the European version...only the newbie 2007 MPS....
we also don't have many options that u have on your cars...
the full european version doesn't have sun roof, leather and heated seats...:((...
only the MPS has them...

Your MPS has a sunroof??

01-04-2008, 04:47 PM
i don't have an MPS....yeap..every part is more expensive here..even the gas....here...we buy a liter of gas with 1.5 US $...:((...so...we fully load a car with gas with about 70-80 U.S. $...probably in North America...you do 3 full loads...but..that's it....
but we have another good part here in Europe:D...we can do almost every upgrade of the car...especially body parts with the insurances:))...just to recover the insurance payment:D
u are too far, otherwise i can sell u my speed3 rims. lol....
