Just got my Ipod adaptor last week! Nervous like hell doing my own install, looks good and I'm very satisfied with it so far. I would recommend creating Playlists on Itunes or else your searching endlessly for your desired tune. LOL!

Does the shuffle feature work with the adapter?

I know exactly how you feel. By the time I found one song that I wanted to listen to badly I had already arrived at work from home. Total trip time was 45 min.

Only works on playlists only. I think there is a random play feature.

On the adapter? What I want to be able to do is to shuffle/random my entire iPod and be able to skip forward or back using the steering wheel controls.

THAT ADAPTER SUCKS!!!!! i went and bought one from the mazda dealership here, installed it that night, and i hated it! it just randomly goes thru and selects what songs it wants to play, and you have almost no control over it. thank god i kept all my packaging, b/c i took it all back out, put it back in the box and took it back to the mazda store. they never knew it was installed. then i just went and bought a pioneer stereo with the aux plug in the back and just ran the cord under my center console up thru the arm rest and my IPOD just plugs right in. IT WORKS PERFECTLY, and i can control my IPOD MYSELF!!!!!

Maybe if you took the time to read all the instructions properly you would figure out that it mainly works on playlists that you set up through you iTunes.

+1
Once you read the manual and set everything up it works great and the steering wheel controls are much safer than using your ipod controls.

i did read everything and i did take the time to set up playlists. but you still loose all of the basic functionality of the IPOD itself. maybe were not talking about the same thing, but min was useless, and didnt like it at all. the one i have now though is MAGIC

I also use the "on-the-go" playlists all the time too when on the road... works a treat
I found it frustrating at first but okay once I got used to it. The sound is a lot cleaner when turned up LOUD from the adapter vs the AUX jack as well...
+1 on the steering wheel controls.

cell phone in one hand, I pod shuffling in the other, burger and drink between the legs, following the NAV to get to where you want to go. the idea of an I pod is to let it play, plug it in and play, if a song plays that you don't want to hear than delete it when you get home. If you had a sat radio you can't shuffle to the next song, I don't think...JMO
