Nice and only 3lbs! I'm going to pass though, I already feel like I have to be very cautious with my macbook in terms of durability, I would be too afraid to store this anywhere.

nice multi-touch interface like a iphone/touch. I'm not keen on the remote drive crap.

um.. you guys should add the 399 for the added protection on the mac.. its pretty much suicidal to not get warranty for apple. their laptops tends to break down easier than PCs

Time to find a way to hook this up to my car :)

I haven't experienced that.. I've had two Powerbook G4's, still have one (one was for work) and they have never given me any problems
*knocks on wood
not sure about the new models however

We have an older PB G4 Titanium 667 and it's lasted through alot without any problems. Unfortunately I don't trust the newer laptops since they are getting smaller and running higher speeds, etc. Applecare on a laptop is always good because replacing any part new is crazy expensive.

+1 No problems so far here but as CWP was saying, applecare for the few bucks is a good investment.
Crazy, to bad it would snap in a second :(

I don't think they have HAD a lot of issues but the chance of something happening to a laptop is much higher.
I myself have a G4 tower since 2001 and haven't had 1 problem with it. I know a couple people who have had issues with their G5 and MacPro, but I think they are just random problems. I will be getting a new imac soon but I will be getting Applecare with that. Applecare is cheaper than a Best Buy/Future Shop warranty so why not.

Not necessarily true, I've got a Powerbook G4 and 4 years later it runs very well, doesn't take 10 minutes to boot up and isn't bogged down by bloatware, unlike my Toshiba which had its fan replaced 2 times, its power adaptor once, luckily I got extended warranty from Toshiba for $200.
In anycase when it comes to laptops, which ever make it might be, it might be worth it to buy extended warranty from the manufacturer.
As for investing in this MacBook Air, I'd let the early adopters work out the kinks for the rest of us and wait for the price on that SSD to drop to something more reasonable, $1000 for 64 GB? Way too much per gigabyte!

Nice but no DVD player. The upgrade form the 1.6 to the 1.8GHz is a whopping $1300...ouch

Look at the details! The 1.8Ghz contains the super expensive solid state hard drive drives. With the wifi there is no need for a superdrive.

No optical drive and battery not user replaceable. Nice design thou, I would stick with the MacBook and MacBook Pro. I'm waiting for a price error to grab one of em 17" MacBook Pro. :)

Or just get the processor upgrade for $325 and forget about the SSD hard drive.
