well, cause i didnt see anyone buy the car from Whitby Mazda, too far for most of your guys maybe.i am happy with this dealer and maybe because my buddy work there.:chuckle

new car sales:their sales team are most young ppl and easy to talk with. if you wanna just a test drive, there is mostly no problem at all if they have the car parked outside. you can always tell them ur oppinons about the price or anything, usually works...haha... if you go there for new car, look for Paulo and Jastin (my classmates)

used car sales:never buy a used car, but if you ask both of them, they will give you a good deal for sure.

service: never have a problem b4, but walk in oil change is good for me. service front desks are nice to talk too.

overall: good dealer on east-end.

i can concur that their sales service is top notch as well as their service dept for oil changes.

as for any other service esp. when it comes to warranty items, i have found their service absolutely horrible. not to mention that one of their techs managed to curb rash up one of my rims.

I'll vouch for both Paulo & Justin as well. Both stand up guys, and both funny as hell to talk to.

went to whitby mazda this morning for some warranty work. (needed a new front crash sensor). i thought the service was great. dealt with a guy named steve, friendly and helpful. was impressed with the free car wash. but kinda pointless seeing as the roads are soaked from the melting snow, so my car looked the same as it did when i arrived. but appreciated it none the less. they also updated my computer for me under warranty. all in all, i had a great experience.

Sounds like your sales experience went much better than mine (I guess it is who you know). I wrote a review a long time ago. The long and short of it is they gave me prices that were higher than what was listed on mazda.ca and they tried to pressure us into writing up the deal right then. FTM - I was buying 2 cars at the same time.

I have had some service done there, which I said I would never do, but with a change in jobs it is the only location I can use during the week. That said the service has been average at best. The people in the department are nice and it is easy to book an appointment. My issue is it took them 3 times to replace my clock that didn't work for over a year and half, should have been replaced first time according to the TSB.

they're generally good, service-wise, but they need to get out of that shack and move into their new digs. i hear it's been delayed forever but should break ground this summer. props to salesguy, Nathan.

haha - don't get me started on Whitby. Back in 2004 you'll find my post about my experience at Ajax Mazda, which started with Whitby when I went to buy my 3.

Keep in mind, this was 4 years ago so I'm sure the sales staff has changed, but it was awful then. I went to Ajax purely for the fact that the guys didn't pressure me, and were willing to go the extra distance, whereas Whitby expected money up front before they even looked for the model I wanted.

I have recently boycotted Whitby for service due to an incident which happened about 2 months ago. They are unwilling to admit to their own faults, even for long-standing customers, they refuse to look into known issues beyond "we can't help you". I had MAJOR warranty work in the summer which Whitby refused to help me with, so I went to Scarboro instead where I was both impressed and thankful for all the trouble they went to with fixing my car. Whitby is lazy in that respect.

If you are getting a basic oil change done - it'll suffice. But as good advice, check your ride carefully going in and out of that place. I don't trust them at all and as such, I will be driving to at least Ajax if not farther for better quality service.

Hey Super Vixen, did you ever get that fuel consumption problem fixed?
and if so what was the problem?

I wouldn't say it was ever fixed. Scarboro was great for replacing a bunch of stuff (fuel pump, etc), but I still don't have the same mileage I used to...I think I gained an extra 100km MAX off a tank (so if I'm lucky I'll get 415-430 off a tank now). If anything, I'm getting better mileage in the winter right now than I did in the summer.

They never found a specific issue that caused it...and they pretty much gave up after replacing all the stuff, because Mazda was giving them hell for doing it all under warranty without due cause (apparently a huge drop in mileage means nothing to head office).

at first, when you wrote "Scarboro Mazda" i automatically thought "Agincourt Mazda" (in scarboro too). On a sidenote, I bought my former 3GT from Agincourt. Salesguy, pompous idiot. Service dept, english as third language, auto mechanics as second language. but that's another thread.

I've never dealt with Agincourt before...just Whitby, Ajax and Scarboro (there's a reason I spelled it Scarboro and not Scarborough :P).

Scarboro was amazing to me - and came on the recommendation of Flagrum_3.

I had a great service appointment there yesterday (48000 km). This makes 2 in a row. They even looked into the finish bubbling on my rims and they are going to have them re-finished. I had mentioned it during casual conversation with the service rep. when I was waiting for my ride and by the time I got to work there was a message telling me that refinishing them would be covered under warranty.

It's nice to see some more people from the Oshawa-Whitby area on here.
I would love to set up a mini meet if possible (I'm in courtice)

I bought my 3 at Whitby (from Chris Carter...not sure if he works there anymore) 2 years ago now (damn time flies) and it was a pretty good experience considering it was my first major purchase since entering the full time work force after college. I go there for oil changes and I can't really complain. I have also not had major repais done yet *knock on wood* so I can't comment any further.

But yes, Durham region people who are you, let's set something up!

That's not bad of an idea...I'm always hearing about meets in the west end but nothing for Durham. I could possibly check it out sometime :)

I used to go to a lot of the Toronto meets back in the day when I first got my car...we've never had any official Durham meets happen (there never was many of us on here).

I'd come out if possible, but I don't have a free weekend until October, and I'm hoping to have my car sold in the next month anyways :) figures this would happen now!

vixen...that sucks but you should still come out anyway since you've been a member for so long.

Yeah I've been to a couple meets int he west end but it's too tough to go that far every week

We should compile a list of people in the forum that actually live in region. I think from there we can collaborate and figure out a when/where. So I guess I'll start off the list...

1. 06Touring3 - Courtice

Hey...

I just bought my car from Whitby Mazda, literally within the week. I had a great experience there. Eventually when i need to take it in, is there anyone in the service department who is a really good tech?

http://www.torontomazda3.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=25612

got a unhappy weekend.

alright....i need to clear my whitby mazda experience now.

i just got the oil change last friday, as usual, i brought my own mobie1 oil and they do the service. i went to toronto right after the change, then i found out there are lots buleish smoke puffing out the tip when i waited for the traffic, "WTF, the bad seal sign". i called them right the way about the problem i got. the service guy told me that its normal, i should get the smoke if i drove at the hot weather, ( WTF, he knew nothing about speed3).
from that moment i didnt trust him anymore, i checked the oil, try to find out if he put my sync oil in or not. then i found out the even worst reality, he OVERFILLED my engin, the oil line was all the way above the "S" shape area on the oil dip. that means he may overfilled almost 1.5L of oil and also means he didnt even drin out 75% of the old oil, he may not even change the oil filter. thats why the new sync oil didnt smell as usuall.
i went back to him, he jacked my car up and drin out LOTS oil to keep the oil level right below MAX line.
THANKS GOD, my seal problem gone right after that. thanks couple friends in this form comforted me when i asked them about the seal problem

the result: 1. I will never go back to Whitby Mazda again for the ****ing service. 2. if you saw the blueish smoke as like bad seal, go check your oil level, it might be overfilled.

I just bought my car yesterday, not in stock, so I'm still waiting. Nathan is great, but I really did not like the guy I had to talk to afterwards...the retail manager or whatever. He treated me like I was some kind of idiot if I had any concerns. What irked me was that the Stormy Blue finish is a N/C finish on mazda.ca, but not at the dealership, so they still dinged me $105 on it. I don't mind too much because I got a good deal overall (I think), but I've sent the info to Nathan to check out. We'll see what happens. I just don't like not knowing...

Anyhow, I've begun the wait for the car to arrive. For servicing the car, any recommendations? It seems like from this thread that Whitby isn't the greatest. I live in Scarborough, so something semi-close would be nice.

Also, this being my first car that I've owned, I almost had a heart attack signing the agreement. Instead of being friendly the retail manager was staring daggers at me when I mentioned that I was a little nervous.

All in all, Nathan's great, the other guy, not so much. Here's hoping I get the car soon.

Had my wife's car in there for a 96km service...Guys at front desk were definitely cool guys...both are quite young and know alot about tech stuff. Dropped it off in the morning and got a ride to Golftown to see some buddies. Called me about and hour later to let me know my tranny fluid was turning black (which I actually noticed last time I checked). Gave them the go ahead to change it and got a call back 2 hours later that everything was good to go. Got picked up from Golftown and picked up my car all washed and shiny. Also got a new sheet indicating my brake and tire wear.

Overall great service experience.....got a call the next day from Allison to make sure everthing was good!

Newbie here, been searching all over the net for a M3 forum close to home and found it today!:bana2

Wish I came across this thread before I bought a used 2005 M3 Sport GS 2 weeks ago from WM, my experience with them was mixed. Bill was the sales guy I deal with, he's new there and seems to be helpful during the sales (don't they all). To make a long story short I was assured they don't sell rejects like those independent dealers (Downsview & Redline). I signed the purchase agreement after test drove around the blocks without much time to check the car out with a magnifying glass, thinking they would deliver as promise of not selling rejects. I did point out the braking was shaky (due to rust build-up on the rotor) and needed to be fixed with a few other missing standard OEM parts found during delivery a few days later.
Fast forward to this week after sending the car back last week for them to fix a list of things. I still have 1/2 of the list outstanding that they refuse to correct. I picked up the car 2 days ago in the eve covered with dirt, the key guys all gone home for the day. I tried to call the boss to air my dis-satisfaction the next day but was told he was off, so I email him but yet to hear any respond! There was virtually no communication initiated from them or post sales courtesy call, WTF I feel like a second class citizen just because I bought a $12K used car?:flaming
Oh BTW, nothing against the M3, my son and I like it and just want it to be completed!:)

Had the HB for 2 weeks, the shake didn't improve during highway speed braking. It actually got worse that the front rotors sound like grinding at city speed. I took it back to WM and asked for a swap, they have a blue HB same year but was in the shop for some body work and not available for test drive.
I couldn't wait and settled for a 06 sedan GT (65,000Km) for 7 grans more with new Pirelli and tinted windows, picked it up last week and it sure looks cool. But for this price, thought I could have bought similar car some where else minus the bad experience. The only positive thing I got out from dealing with authorized dealer is that they honor their 30 days buyer protection program with no question asked.

whitby mazda is spotty at best ... they broke the wire going to my maf in the summer on my cai, and it only went down hill from there ... used car salesmen, one of them is awesome, forget his name though, all i can say is stay away from the guy with only 1 arm. Biggest scammer ever, tried to tell me the mazdaspeed protege had 250hp and wanted 18grand for it lol

Well, i was due for my 24k service..

Seeing as i work 6 days a week, and 4 days in Oshawa it's hard for me to get to a dealer that is close by.

So i heard about Whitby Mazda from a Durham Region bus ad, and decided to give them a call.

I called them up at 3pm, they told me i can come in at 5! Nice.. Spoke to John in service great guy to talk to.

Over all the experience was great, they did my service in about an hour, dealership was nice and clean. they were extra careful with my wheels, explained how my car stacked up against other at the 24k mark. And then they offered to wash the car. I said no since it was raining.. But every car that comes in for service gets a wash.

Only down side.. they forgot to put my key locks back in the car lol.. And i didnt notice when i left the dealership, so i will be going back tomorrow to pick them up. (not so bad, i'm only a 10 min drive from them)

Overall good experience. I would go there again

Good service, I recommend them :)
