Ive noticed that whenever I start my engine, obviously it takes time for the Temperature of the engine to go up, if the temp is still (under Cold) and I pull outta the driveway and then drive, the engine light will go on.
If i Warm up the engine so that the Temperature its going aboove the COld and meets halfway between Cold and HOt, then there is no engine light. No problems after.
I went to the Mazda dealership and they told me that this is common for mazda's. He says it could be my Termostat, but they reseted it for me, and told me not to worry about this.
Any ideas..?

That's never happened to me once. I start the car, the engine light comes on then it goes off regardless of how cold it is.

out of curiousity, does anyone know how long you have to wait to warm up the car?
i usually let it warm up until my rpm reaches 1000

^^ the answer will vary depending on who you ask.
I think the manual says to wait at least 30 seconds before driving off.
Some will say that it's a waste of gas to let the engine warm up by idling – which is true in a way since engine will warm up much quicker when under load.
I usually wait 30 seconds on normal temperatures. If really cold I wait till revs drop to around 1200~1100 and just take it easy (on both engine and tranny).
BTW, I've never had CEL (knock on wood)

hmm.. interesting. well i usually idle my car for a while, only during a cold start. some people say for nonturbo charged car, its bad to idle car.. but doesn't sound realistic to me.

Any mods done to the car? Have you brought it into the dealer to have it scanned?
There's a sensor that's throwing your CEL to turn on. Best to bring it to the dealer and have it checked out.

hasnt gone on since they cleared it, and its been 2 weeks. Its just warming your engine properly when its -10 or more.
