Heath Ledger found dead in NYC at age 28
AP - 10 minutes ago
NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence in a possible drug-related death, police said. He was 28. NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let Ledger know the masseuse was there found him dead at 3:26 p.m.

Yet another celebrity looses their battle with their personal demons. This one caught me by surprise. He wasn't in my Celebrity Death Pool. I've got Britney Spears before the end of 2008.

Worst news i've heard in a while. He was so young, and in the prime of his career.
Apparently he was sufferring from pneumonia and may have accidentally overdosed on sleeping pills.

That's some quality parenting right there. Her mom is a f'n retard, and I think she is 100% at fault for her children's stupidity.
Sad thing is, Kevin Federline is looking like the most responsible of the gang (and where the hell is Britney's dad?!!?!?), and he's a dumbass!

Apparently, his death may have been an accident in that he may have inadvertently combined drugs that he had legal prescriptions for. This according to his parents statement. If this is true what a shame.

The autopsy was done and they are still inconclusive as to the exact cause of death. They have said it will take about 10 days to do more tests.

01-23-2008, 12:54 PM
i am trying to imagine what drugs he could have combined
there are significant interactions that occur with some sleeping pills and some pain killers.
but they are rarely lethal unless there was too much (not just a little too much) taken.

Exactly! He obviously took way too many or whatever, which is just stupid. Even if you take a couple more than prescribed you should be ok, but obviously this wasn't the case.

reports say he had only 2hours of sleep per night.. I wonder if he wanted to sleep longer. Also since the writers strike, alot of stars are running out of work... sounds to be close to suicidal.
Another fact was prior to batman, he had written thoughts on a book of what joker's thougts would be like and how he can potray him. Kind of disturbing, if you are writing about how joker's mind works and his psychotic behavior.
That could also be the reason why he has trouble sleeping.

thats what I read somewhere that playing the joker, and doing the research to play him accurately really took a toll on him... cuz he considered the joker's character to be so demented and disturbing that he wasn't able to sleep properly which is why he was supposedly prescribed the pills in the first place... Really sad, because there is a lot of talk about his role in "the dark knight" and how well he played the joker
Broli

i dont believe for a second that his role as the joker had anything to do with his death

Be in Heath's shoes.... You were to play Joker at a blockbuster film, and you want the character to be as real, as dark as it gets.. You want to be convincing and in character. I'm sure he was reading more than just the joker. He must have been studying criminals, delinquets, psychopaths to get the feel of the joker.
If I had a case study on psychopaths, I dont think I would sleep at ease.
But again who knows, thats my thought on this. just a matter of time in 10 days we will know what happened.
Broli
01-23-2008, 04:55 PM
i just dont see it that way bro, i am sure he did his research for the roll, but i dont think that had anything to do with this.
maybe batman finally caught up to him . . .
lol
now they are saying the found some drug baggies and a rolled up 20 dollar bill with some sort of white residue on it. to go with bottles of antidepressants and sleeping pills
lets wait for the tox screen

Tragic, wasn't expecting that to happen to Heath Ledger. Can't really tell how stable some of these celebrities are, case in point, Owen Wilson.

01-23-2008, 08:20 PM
Sigh.
All these ideas that he was studying psychopaths to be "a better Joker" are far-fetched.
The reality is this: He was sick with pneumonia, and because of this he was taking pills to fight it off. Those pills in combination with the sleeping pills they found, created a lethal chemical that obviously killed him.

More likely the non prescription "self medication" was a major contributor . While no drugs were found on the rolled up $20 they found near him, something tells me they will find illegal narcotics int he toxicology report. Why else would he have a $20 snort tube beside him?

They may, but if it wasn't done with the rolled up $20, what did he do? Cook it? Inject it? No mention was made of any paraphernalia found on the scene. At least, not yet.
If they found something like that, they surely would have mentioned it.

But then again whos telling the truth?
At first they reported finding him face first at the foot of the bed... Not true.
They found pills scattered around him.. Again Not true.
It wasn't Mary kate's room.. Again not true.
So what really is the truth... Only 2 weeks can tell.
In a way I hope it was Narcotics, because if you can die by OTC meds and mixing it with other meds.
Thats a scary thought.
Very scary thought

very sad to see this happen to a young and growing actor... quite possibly destined to even bigger things in the near future as The Joker as well...

you will be missed Heath.

it wasn't OTC meds, they said they found Valium and Zoloft.
The rolled up 20 doesn't mean that he used it that day, who knows what other day he snorted up some coke and the snort tube ended up on the floor, maybe weeks or months, long enough for there to be no residue left of the bill perhaps?
tox screen shouldn't take that long

I wish we were as fixated with the deaths of those innocent bystanders that were shot downtown recently.

i will clarify to say that i have more care about the innocent bystanders shot downtown, being as i could really care less about the fate of heath ledger, it is fun to speculate about the circumstances of his death and easy to do so on a web forum where everyone is having fun.

I have to agree with Broli.... it makes it interesting to speculate what happened... while the shootings/killings downtown are a scary and upsetting thought, without trying to intentionally sound cold... the city is really becoming a s**t hole... and these seem to be occuring more and more frequently... I just think people are becoming accustom to them, every day you turn on the news and its the same thing.. 2 people stabbed and 3 shot.. 1 dead etc etc... just sad to see Toronto going down the Sh**ter. It used to be a safe city to walk around in, now not only do you have to watch who you start trouble with but now also have to watch your surroundings for other people and their bs!
And furthermore instead of taking money and hiring more officers, instead we are spending 1.6 mill to get in dash cameras, just think how many new cadets that money could have paid!

As weird as the below sounds:
Sometimes, even with circumstances making people think otherwise, people just die, regardless of age. Most of the time - the person is a heck of a lot older though...
IMHO - we all like explanations, there has to be a reason to why something happened.
