Well, just as the title says, yesterday I got a new amp/sub combo for the 'Speed3. I got it at Futureshop, and I think I did pretty good for what I got. Total came to $560 with tax.
Amp: MTX TC3001 900w (300w RMS) - $160
Sub: MTX TC512 12" 900w (300w RMS) - $170
Box: Bassworx single 12" ported - $60
wire kit: Stinger 8 guage - $66
LOC: Stinger SLOC - $15
For the power line I had to use the grommet behind the glove box, hard fit with the turbo heat shield in the way, and had to run it all the way around the engine, instead of behind. Since the speeds have the Bose stereo, I hooked up the LOC to the wires at the amp under the driver's seat. I had the entire dash ripped apart before I realized I couldn't find the right coloured wires at the back of the stock head unit, then remembered that the Bose system has a separate amp under the seat. What's worse, when I was taking the head unit out, somehow something caught on the '1' button for the radio and it popped off and it's lost somewhere inside my car. I've never used the radio even once in my car, but still, there's a big hole in my radio now haha. Oh well, I guess I will find it eventually.
Anyway, I will get pictures up as soon as I can. Just a simple low power set up, but it makes audio inside the car sound amazing. I also noticed that these cars are insulated very well. I had the music blasting and got out of my car and could hardly hear the sub, but as soon as I open the trunk I almost got deafened. Also inside the car, the seats vibrate, my lungs vibrate, the mirrors are all just blur and I can even feel the thumping in the steering wheel and pedals. Pretty happy with what I got for the money I spent.
On a side note, does anyone know if dealers sell individual buttons for the stereo? It's a long shot to ask for, but that hole in the head unit is really annoying me.
