Not a bad idea, but Xerox you've got the ability to take decent shots at high ISO.

haha. Maybe if I had a Nikon D3 (boost upto ISO 25600!!) I won't need a tri-pod.
Yes, cool and cheap idea. Just don't trip over the string.

Neat. I might just make one of those things to keep in my camera bag just in case I need it.

i made one right after i peeped the video. works incredibly well. just have to be very gentle as to not drop the camera. sounds stupid, but i almost did.

I'm going to give this a try - a good back up at the least.
One thing - when watching the video, and when you saw the guy demo'ing the technique, do you get the feeling that the guy was picked on and oftern heard "He's a dork." in his youth...
Anywho...

Sounds simple enough but the string tension will only theoretically limit one degree of freedom?

Guys just remember to take your foot off the washer before letting your wife take the camera from you and walk away. Some wives have a particular sense of humor that may not appreciate this.

lol, nice one. So true.
Not gonna lie, I'd probably forget to lift my foot.

Maybe your lens isn't big or fast enough for her liking.

bubba.. if it were not so common it would be a nice burn.
It's easy to say to Xerox since his gf in into cameras as well to ask "maybe your gf can test my lens and see if she likes it"
Time to whip it out...
