Hello, I've got an '04 3 GT (2.3L) with about 74K. Recently I've noticed there's a difficulties in starting the car after it was recently driven (ie: the temp gauge isn't right at the cold level).
When I start the car in the morning or after it hasn't been turned on in a few hours it starts fine, just happens when it's just been on.
When I got the car's 72K service done they said my car's engine was in great shape.
Could this be a spark plug/starter issue? Anyone have similar problems?
Thanks!

Depends, but more info on what is actually happening when you turn the key would be helpful.

Yes that was a bit of a vague description wasn't it...
When I try to start the car after it's recently been running there's sometimes a pause before the engine fires up. During that pause the electrical system works (ie: radio/warning lights come on) but the engine won't "turn over".
This pause has lasted anywhere from a second or two, to having me to turn the ignition off and re-trying - a few times it's taken 3 or 4 tries.
A few times as well a scratching-like sound is heard as the ignition is turned and the car fires up.
Like I said this only happens after the car has recently been driven and the temp gauge isn't at "C". When the car has been off for hours/overnight it starts up no problem.

Well I'll take a couple of shots in the dark here and say it 'sounds' like either a bad starter solenoid or connection or the starter has a dead spot. But definitely something worth taking it in for a proper inspection.

Would that be covered under the powertrain warranty?
If not, any idea the estimated cost?

If the starter is the problem, then yes it is covered for 5 years/100k.But it could be a number of things including the neutral safety switch since its an auto.
Take it in and let us know what they find...your still under warranty!! ....thanks.
