Okay hypothetical question....

Who here owns a Mazda3 Sport hatch + the Speed3....

which would do a better job in cleaning the Rear window:

1) The OEM Rear wiper

2) Your personal Undergarments

3) Other

if you choose other, what would you think is best to clean the rear view window

What is the point of this thread, I think anything is better the OEM rear wiper on the Mazda3 hatch cause that striaght up sucks large and there is no solid replacment avaliable.....

I'd just like to point out that Number 2 will not work with soiled undergarments.

My rear wiper seems to do just fine for the area it covers. With washer fluid, it always seems to get the job done for me.

lol They are not the greatest. Went to CT and they don't even list a replacement....weird :loco

My wipers are pretty bad. I try to use a towel to wipe them every so often. Even with washer fluid, it leaves a really noticeable and bothersome mark across my rear window.

After 3+ years my rear wiper sucks. Time for a replacement...but how?

At Canadian Tire there wasn't any replacement wiper listed for the hatch as mentioned by mleblond

I'm interested in a replacement if thats possible...

I agree that the rear wiper sucks. It works fine in the summer when it is warm, but in the winter it streaks.

they work fine b4 winter.. but i think the cold weather just made it crap again =/

I'm pretty sure that the housing for the blade has a proprietary connection to the arm. So obviously we can't use the Viewmax/Reflex-type wipers. The blade is about 12" from what I can see (someone can correct me on that). So I'll probably just buy a 24" aftermarket blade (something better like the teflon wipers that CDN Tire sells or a RainX wiper), then cut it in half and use one half and keep the other half as a spare.

You guys are missing the point here. Just ask your significant other to get out of the car and clean off the rear windshield.

Did you run out of soiled undergarments?

Or you didn't want to get the winning blue shoes all wet/dirty?:chuckle

haven't had an issue with mine yet.. but the blade is pretty much new, and I try not to overuse it

I am gonna do the rain-x treatment from CT on all my windows and see if it makes a difference. I find that it normally repels water very well and helps the wipers perform...

Still can't buy the rear blades anywhere but the dealer.

The Bosh hindsights don't list the 3 hatch yet.

Tim have you tried a better windshield washer fluid, or an additive? On my parent's Odyssey the rear glass was terrible and the wiper seemed to be working like crap. I picked up a pack of 303 washer fluid tabs from eShine.ca and it helps A TON!

azn_outlaw
02-10-2008, 12:13 PM
Yeah I gonna try that next......actually Kaval buddy...

I think you told me that in a dream or something like that..

but will try full Rain-X treatment + the 303 washer fluid tabs

I heard those tabs can make that cheapo windshiled blue stuff act like some expensive ish...

so if Kaval says it works, it will work, cant go wrong with the word of Kaval...

off topic, but Kaval get ready for springs, cause you gotta clean my interior and possibly you will kill me...its a mess in there LOL!

Got something in the works. Could be a viable improvement if we're lucky. I'll report back when I confirm it works.

BTW, I use Rain-X on all my windows. It doesn't help the rear window in cold weather.

I replaced mine with the Silblade from Lockdown. Works great. the oem wiper sucked ass. get the 14' blade. you'll have to trim about 1/2' off and make a little incision on the ends of the blade so that you can slide it in.

Skarbro

Yeah that's the ticket. Silicone blades don't get hard like regular rubber blades in the cold. This is what I am working on. I am trying to get a handfull of 14" silicone blades and will be selling a limited number for a cheap price on here. Stay tuned...

Skarbro

OK I've found a really good solution. I bought 6 14" Havoline silicone wiper blades from the U.S. I'm keeping 2 for myself and selling the rest on here later after I confirm they work as well as I expect (tomorrow will be the big test with all the ice and snow and cold temperature).

They are the full assembly, but all you need is the blade itself. No cutting required. It fits perfectly in the 3's wiper arm.

Why silicone? Because it is highly resistant to hardening in cold temperatures. That is why the regular rubber ones suck in the winter. They harden and do not form well against the glass.

I'll update this later...

I use Rain-X esp. front and back. as long as the water beads on the glass, I have no problems with the wiper. If it's cold, the rear defogger does it's job, well for me. But i do notice the back gets really dirty though.

I use RainX too. But it doesn't help the rear OEM wiper on my car. Still streaks. Hopefully the new silicone blade is better.

yeah ur right it streaks... i think you have to keep spraying some washer fluid, the ice and snow that builds up on the blade is what's causing the streaks, right? good luck on the new silicone blade! Let us know :)
