So, what do you guys think of this unit? Seems a good solution for those of us who don't want to try and build our own units.

Looks good but the specs are crap 1.3 mhz is like a pentium 3 dinosaur. Plus in Canada this would suck as it cannot operate under -10 degres. You would need a heating system for it :P You can build a pc that is as big as a xbox 360 and buy a touchscreen to do the same IMO.

It would boot for sure. Most likely the LCD would be a little discoloured until it warms up. There is no reason why that wouldn't run in -10.

Guess your not a computer geek. Regular computers are not meant to work in the cold. Your can easily damage your computer. Main concern would be having frozen capacitors. Plus considering the manufacturer says max -10°C means they did not design this to work in cold situations. Hard drives are min 0°C So you would need a block heater for the pc and only boot after it reaches a certain temp...but then you might also have condensation problems...
Too much to worry.
Whats the retail price on this bad boy? Summer would be fine I think. I am not saying it will not work. It will try to boot and may damage the system so if you pay ~2000$ for this setup and breaks in a year then it's not a good investment.

Retail less than 700$...I would not care about any of this at that price to be honest...I would just replace it when it breaks.

I don't know about that. I'm sure it would damage your computer yes but it's the hardrive that's slowest to spin until enough heat is generated. They probably use a labtop style hardrive.
This unit is also located in the dash are on the interior. The technology is also similar to almost every other deck out there that uses HD's. I really do believe it would be fine.
Nice but the temperature of operation worries me.
They have some nice units these guys.

Yeah, you might have to wait till the car interior warms up substantially (in winter, obviously) before turning the unit on...I like the fact that you could use it with many different accessaries, but personally I'm waiting for a unit that has a seperate screen to the controller with bluetooth capabilities...and for prices to come down also.:)
