View Full Version : Frustration. Engine still makes ping noise but dealer denies hearing it

Took the car to the dealer today for the 24 k service and the door lock problem/recall/. Well, they said they cannot hear a problem with the engine and their techs have not mentioned anything,. Yet, when we drove the car later it was hesitating and pinging away. I am so frustrated already. Is there anyone in the Newmarket area that can come and go on a run with us and see what exactly I am talking about. I am not going crazy, there is something there.

Thanks

Bean

Also, forgot to mention that they forgot to reconnect the drivers side power lock so I am not pleased about that either.

I live in Newmarket and its a bit of a stretch to Yonge and Steeles (where MOT is). They are where Sisley Honda used to be :)

I come here everyday, if you would like me to bring it in and back for the day, I can do that for you (providing nice weather, would rather not drive someone elses car during a snow storm).

I do it for my neighbours all the time..

PM me if you are interested.

Contact the servive manager at Dave Wood Mazda and ask him to take a ride with you to show and hear what is going on with your car, if you are not satisfied with them or conclsion than take it to MOT...not sure what you mean by "we drove the car" who is we?
Good luck...

When Hubby and I drove the car later to my work (I work at the Superstore in Aurora if anyone wants to come by and say HI ) and I heard it pinging away on St. Johns Sideroad. I think I might just start taking it on down to MOT. I have heard so many good things about them :)

So it pings all the time? pings when you apply gas? accelerating, goes away when you let off the gas?
have you taken the car to Dave Wood in Newmarket?

It was Dave Wood where I originally took it. After car goes into 4th gear, it hesitates a bit and then there is the ping noise. We then have to give it some cash for it to go quicker.

Whoa are you saying you have to bribe your own car to make it run right?:chuckle

I'm sure you meant more gas right?:)

Let us know how you make out. I realize the dealer said they hear nothing so thats why you have to get the service manager involved, if not already and from there a Mazda service rep. record the pinging.
Good luck

over a ping?

Have the service manager listen to it.

With all due respect, bitching and whining about the problem in multiple threads without taking action won't get the problem solved.

Yes, I agree, but I had this impression from them,. Stop bugging us, there is nothing there attitude it seems

Sometimes the way you describe a problem might not get the point across to the techs, so when they take the car out looking for what they think you've described, they don't find anything.

I think that no matter where you take it next, whether it be to MoT or elsewhere, you have to ensure you go out with someone and show them exactly what you're talking about. Make sure they hear it and acknowledge it. Then you'll both be on the same page.

Is this noise happening all the time? Sometimes you will need to leave your car overnight so they can check it the following morning.

Bean
02-14-2008, 09:16 PM
No. Only when the car is in 4th gear, then it seems to hesitate and you can hear the pinging
