Well, I have confirmed that I really dislike LCD displays in cars!

I cannot read the display (audio, trip, time etc) while wearing my sunglasses. I know what causes the problem... different polaraizaion in the display and the glasses... but what I don't know is how to fix it. Any suggestions? Ideally, I'd like to replace LCD display with one that uses LEDs....

LOL I have this same issue with my polarized Ray Bans, although I can still sort of read it.
The bigger problem I have is that it's hard to see my Nuvi's screen. I actually have to tilt it clockwise so that I can read it with my sunglasses on.

I *think* there is polarization film available that will rotate the polarization of the light from the display....

heh. Same issue here. Have to tilt my head sideways a bit to read it.

Heck with the display. My next pair of shades won't be polarized. I'm not really a fan.

Really? All my sunglasses are polarized. Won't get a pair without polarization.

Ditto.

I just look over the top of the sunglasses to see (technically, to read) the display -- fortunately don't need to do that too often :-)

:agree After getting polarized sunglasses, I don't know if I would ever get sunglasses that aren't polarized.

I'd do the same... except my sunglasses are magnetic clip-ons, which means that I'd be able to see the display... I just wouldn't be able to read it! :chuckle

LCD display actually have polarizing filters in there.
Theres one horizontal, and one vertical (or just one of the two)

But yea its because they have polarizing filters, and they can cancel each other out, so when you tilt your head you can see it.

But basically its because they have polarizing filters in it, and polarized glasses (two polarized things don't always work well together)

Meh... this is my first pair of polarized lenses. I don't really find them any better than the non-polarized ones I've had in the past, and the non-polarized ones don't have these little issues.

Mine reduce glare way better than non-polarized lenses. This helps me stay more alert/awake on long drives.

If you don't mind me asking, what pair of polarized sunglasses did you have (who made the lens)?
Cuz some are better than others.

It's a $400 pair of Revo's. I hope they're not crap. :)

Yea, I would say that's not crap.
I have a pair of Revo's and the polarization is great on it.

ditto. i like my Revo's. the polarization takes a bit of getting used to. in the winter they rock when the sun is glaring off the snow.

Revo and Maui Jim are prolly the 2 best quality polarized lenses you can get. As already mentioned, they make a huge difference with snow glare.
Also, if you spend any time on the water (boating, fishing) there's no comparison to polarized lenses. When I'm flyfishing I can actually see exactly where the fish are!

Polarized sunglasses definitely take getting used to. I've only driven my 3 once so far with my polarized Hugo Boss prescription sunglasses, don't recall having a problem looking at the display though. Looking at other peoples windshields was trippy though.

Only people's rear windshields are "trippy" (i.e. weird wavy patterns). The front windshields are fine.

I personally love polarized sunglasses, won't go back.
