View Full Version : Racing Mazda 3
Its a hatch, first off, which is unexpected. Full roll cage, lightened and everything.
Impressive, wonder what the motor's like....

you mean nobody told you that hatches are the fastest? :chuckle that is why the speed3 is a hatch not a sedan, mazda knew it all along :bana :pop :gone
Actually in the SCCA club racing Mazda uses Sedans.
Sedans are faster (weight advantage) in 2.3L N/A form.

Funny how they seem to have kept the Mazda3 steering wheel and ripped off the volume and cruise controls. Everything else in the interior was taken out.

And have you seen the commercial where the sedan owner is trying to lose the hatch's owner, but can't, because the hatch is faster, and he likes it so much, he's trying to keep it? :P (I know I'm opening a can of worms here, but oh well :P )

I was wondering about that, too! Do you think they have the airbag in there? I'm not sure how effective that might be with a full harness, but still?
The diameter of the wheel and width of the grip on our wheel is really nice. I wouldn't change it.

I would have to agree, and unless it is very heavy, there really isn't a point as the money put towards that can be better used elsewhere. I often grip it with driving gloves during the winter and it still remains a nice feel. So racing gloves would be nice too.
I find that the wheels on sportier cars are about the same diameter as ours. I've tried the thicker wheels and I'm not a fan. Suede would be nice though, hehe.
Anyone notice that he's not using a spoiler on the rear? Wouldn't you want to keep the rear end down, or do you think he's going for better airflow?
