VSR WHEELS

Model: Venom

Size: 18x7.5

Bolt Pattern: 5x100/114.3

Off Set: +42mm

Finish: Triple Plated Chrome

Too much chrome or think they'd look sharp?

yeah, that's a lot of chrome but it'd look good on black or grey, i think. calipers would have to be painted too, that's a lot of open rim space.

SOLD ...lol just kidding, I am not a big fan of the chrome rims....but these do look good! I am just not sure I would get the star 5 spokes style on my hatch....but thats just me.

And this is exactly why I asked the question!

Here's the deal: I've got a Galaxy Grey hatch and I'm not keen on the OEM wheels.

Personally I think a lighter colour looks better with a darker colour, hence the chrome. Hyper-silver and machined silver would like good too IMHO.

I'm concerned tho that the chrome adds a little too much ghetto to the car so I'm appealing to my TMS brethren (and sistren :chuckle) for your opinion and thoughts on rim colour and styles that will look best with the Galaxy Grey.

All opinions are welcome and thanks in advance!

Some guy at the garage told me this today

"Whatever rims you put on no matter what the shape or price. It's the thought that comes to mind that matters."

For instance if I put these really nice rims on my car and you look at my car and say "nice rims".... then thats no good. You want to hear/think "nice car, I love those rims."

Moral of the story you want rims that accentuate the car, not overlook the car.

And if the rims just look bad in the first place well your way off track in getting those rims.

Note: Not sure if this sounds right but let me know otherwise...

I personally never was a fan of the chrome look on the mazda 3 just my opinion though. If its your style go for it. The whole point of modding is to make your car unique and i would be interested to see how that looks. If i was in your place and had those rims i would keep a chrome theme in my car aluminum fuel door, aluminum door handle and aluminum door sills.

Not my cup of tea but if thats what you like then go for it. The offset might be a bitch if you're lowered bigtime. You might have to roll the fenders for more clearance.

absolutely not.

Sorry

Chrome Rims + Mazda3 (or maxda anything for that matter) = No good.

Thats just my opinion...Keep the Chrome on the trucks and SUVs.

To much bling for my tastes. Plus that will be wickedly heavy.

well said, and i agree.

Not my taste, and they don't look that good....too flashy and try hard in a way.....get something more conservative, fits the car more.

what are you looking for? 18" wheels? 5 spoke, multispoke, budget...etc? What's your preference?

if budget is something, check out ASA AR2. Infact go to tire rack and you can view it on your car. Machined w/ Anthracite accent. I like the colour....and cheap $165/each 18"

The only thing that really sucks about 18" wheels is the tire selection...

I agree with the above posts, too much chrome.

no good, run away and not to mention those blinged out rims will probably get stolen since they are flash like nothing else

I think it's a clear decision not to go for the chrome listed above.

I would personally go for a multi spoke style like this for my hatch...just suggestions for you to make a choice.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. You've all confirmed my gut instinct about the chrome:chuckle

I agree but think that silver or hypersilver will be the best way for me to go with the Galaxy Grey rather than black (I like light wheels with dark paint and vice versa).

Looking at some rims in this style now from Enkei, OZ, Rays and Gram Lights. Will keep you posted on which way I choose to go.

Again, thanks everyone for your feedback!

Go to a site like www.tirerack.com and input your car. You can select from a list of cars and their colors. Select your model and color of Mazda3 and it will show you the rims that will fit your car. At the same time it will display them on the car. You can either find the rims you want, or give you an idea of what will look good.

Try it.

those enkeis are kinda hot...

get the OZ ultraleggera (sp?) in bright silver finish....and they are very reasonably priced. And they look really really nice on the hatch...not so mcuh on a sedan.

Thanks for the advice. It was actually this feature at tirerack that narrowed me down to the brands/styles I'm looking at now.

For anyone who's looking for rims, I strongly second 3GFX's thoughts: check out this feature on the tirerack site!:bana
