Hey guys,
I've owned a 2005 Mazda 3 Sport HB and I currently have a 2007 Sport HB and both cars have the same problem espeically in cold weather. There is a non stop ticking/rattling noise coming from the glove box.
Can anyone relate to this? And if so, what did you do to fix it, because I have had no luck at the dealership.
Thanks,
David
I have it too. I have no clue what it is or how to fix it tho.

The Mazda3 is plagued with all sorts of creeks, squeaks and rattles from pretty much all-things interior. How the EXACT problem exists in the 2007 models as the 2004 models with many ppl complaining is beyond me. The interior always get high ratings for looking nice and that's true, but it doesn't get much worse :/

did you actually hear the sound is coming from the glove box? Mine's not even a month old when I started hearing noises which seemed to come from everywhere. From the front passenger side speakers, to the glove box, passenger seat, driver seat, and finally the noisy seat belt buckle. I just sprayed some WD40 on the bolt that connects the seat belt buckle to the seat and so far it's all good.:bana

i have a similar glovebox ticking sound. only happens over small bumps. on mine its because the left tang that keeps the box shut has about 1-2mm of slack allowing itself to jiggle around.
As EE has mentioned i just crank the tunes and all is good.

Its weird with all these complaints about noises! What percentage of our members I wonder are having the similar problems??. Maybe someone should add a poll to this post!!...
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones because I have no rattles or squeeks,....nothing...at the moment anyways.I did have an irritating noise at one point but turned out to be simply the rear hatch cover, which I illiminated by gluing some felt strips at two particular spots, but thats been it.The car rides amazingly quite. :)

Complete lie :P. I don't believe ANY Mazda 3 has no problems in the interior. I WANT to drive in one that, going over the bumpy roads in Toronto or Hamilton ,with the radio off, hear almost nothing except normal road noises.
We should do a poll because I would imagine 80%+ of Mazda 3 owners have complained about something related to squeeks, rattles or other in the interior. Very, very sad.
Maybe we should also set a group buy for a whole new interior (perhaps from another car) :P

Thems fighting words buddy, you calling me a liar? :flaming
.......I can honestly say I have not had, other than the hatch lid, which I mentioned in my post and still have no noise problems with my interior. But like I also said maybe I just got lucky, but I would imagine there are others here that can say the same.

Could be something loose; wheel jack, spare tire! or if you read my post; The cover that hangs off the hatch lid when closed will rub with the rest of the cover, maybe you have the same problem!? ...As I mentioned in my post I cured it by taping some felt on the extreme corners of the lid....noise is gone.

you bet... that's almost always the case. so I check the back as mentioned by _3, and no the noise was not from the cover that hangs from the door when you open it. I noticed 2 rubber pieces on the edge of that cover and it stops the cover from moving when the hatch is closed. the whole thing's pretty snug i even tried moving it. anyway, the rattle mysteriously disappeared. quiet ride so far. oh well, 'til the next rattle! :chuckle
I have rattles in glovebox, stereo area, plastic next to drivers side door, seatbelt and annoying ping in engine which is getting worse. I like the car but am losing faith in it.

As you will see, rattling is VERY common.:loco

As a solution, some members have tried replacing their glovebox.
You would think that Mazda will do something about it eh? Oh well. I am not planning on keeping this car when the lease is up thats for sure.
