I'm surprised to hear that no-one has talked about this...

I work a stone-throw from most of these places that were burned down. I used to go to Suspect Video fairly often, and I've walked by many of these stores countless times.

I got the office today at 8:30 this morning, and the smoke in our office was pretty bad. I could smell the fire from Osgoode subway station which was quite a ways away.

Anyone else work downtown?

this sucks. The ice on the visor of the fire fighter's helmet was something I've never seen before.

I hope the insurance companies can respond quickly to those affected.

This happened about a city block away from me. I was wondering why there was a parade of firetruckers blaring early in the morning was (had my window open cuz I just painted). Should have taken my camera down to take photos but was to groggy from the lack of sleep.

I work basically across the street (on Richmond right behind Queen). It was a little sureal in the morning when I got in as the people who live in the house that back onto those buildings were in our lobby with their pets. Worked all day but the building was smokey - let the staff go mid-day just in case! I was amazed by the shear number of firefighters and how lax everyone was about just going out and wandering around.
I just had pizzaiolo for lunch the day before and would often go into Duke's to dream about some of their bikes.
A real shame!

You work on Richmond behind Queen? I work like 30 seconds from you at Richmond and Spadina? Who do you work for? I used to work on Richmond up until October...

Girlfriend works at Osgoode Hall (Law Society) and was saying it was pretty crazy. Said the smell of smoke was pretty bad in the underground near work lol.

My clothes smelt like campfire - but not normal campfire more like a campfire after the marshmallow bag has fallen in.

I hope the insurance companies can respond quickly to those affected.

Sadly, a lot of the businesses may not have had insurance (I'm guessing the same would be true for the majority of tenants). CITY News had the owner of National Sound on last night saying "Insurance? Nobody can get insurance on Queen St. We lost everything"

I took a walk over there on my lunch break a few days ago to take some pics from my phone...
