Hello,

I got my very first CEL over the weekend. Took it in Monday to my dealer (MOT on Yonge & Steeles). Turned out that the warning came up due to a purge valve that was permanently open. That part was not in stock so they put it on order, it should be arriving tomorrow.

Doing some research in these forums it seems that this is a common failure with the Mazda 3 and I am wondering if this component has re-failed after having it replaced for anyone out there?

I had the same problem. Once I got it fixed , it never happened again (knock on wood as my warranty is now up)

Mine re-failed again one time after it was replaced under warranty (2nd time my km's were up) but you have lots of time before your warranty is up... so I wouldn't worry about it...

If you do not mind me asking, what was the cost of replacing this component once the warranty period had expired?

Purge valve? Which valve is this?

fuel purge valve. part of the emissions system.

If you do not mind me asking, what was the cost of replacing this component once the warranty period had expired?

I dont think its a very expensive part.
