HELP!! engine light is on

Hi there:

I have a 2004 mazda 3 GS. 5 speed
I hope some one else had the same problem so i may get some advice. A week ago my check engine light came on. I took it to mechanic under warranty and he said that the car needed service which was $300.

Now when im at a red light my RMP idle drops below 1000 and then lower and then to 500 then all of a sudden jumps back up (car shakes). Then it comes back down to 1000 then to 500 then lower and bam the car turns off by it self.
This problem started to happed more often in the past couple of days.

Any suggestions on what the problem could be?????????????

Take it back to the mechanic which serviced your car under warranty. He's worked on your car and should know what the problem is.

I dont trust the guy, he's kinda fishy.....

Any ideas maybe?? so i can go to him and talk about it.....

I would recommend going back to the mechanic. But when my car did that t was because my catalytic convertors were flooded.

Ya the car has 3 year powertrain warranty.....

i went to Canadian tire today and bought a scaner for $225 just to use it and then return it.

i hooked it up and apparently cylinder 1 is miss firing. And it also said the idle is too lean. Also detected a leak. I think i need to change the head gasket because my toyota celica had the same problem. Any ways I got head gasket under warranty (yay for me) im gona take it to mechanic and show him what i found out.

If it's under warranty, just take it in and let them deal with it.

Sounds like an electrical issue to me, maybe a bad plug or bad coil or something.

Really, if you're not happy with the service you're getting, take it to a different dealer, but let them fix it. Don't go mucking around with things while it's under warranty.
