View Full Version : Popping sound when suspension bottomed out?

I just HAD to to grab a Timmies on the way to work today. :bang

The exit from the parking lot has a nasty pothole in the road next to curb. Even though I was going quite slow I must have hit something, because there was a popping noise. More like sheetmetal whapping on something than the solid thunk I would have expected if I bottomed out the suspension, or the scrapping I would have expected if something got hung up. I couldn't see any damage to the exhuast tip, and the car sits okay.

Any thoughts about what might have caused the noise? Is it normal? Or am I going to have to go get it hoisted to check it out?

Thanks!

(BTW, It's the Tim's off off Winston Churchill, just south of the QEW on West side... there's a Wendy's in the same buidling, a hotel right next door)

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've got winter tires on steelies, nothing *should* have been rubbing....
I don't see any marks... but I of course there was enough crap on the road this morning that they would have been covered up again.

Ah well. No mysterious puddles underneath, and it drove just fine coming home. I've got a set of rims on order with SimplyTire, so I'll have a look underneath when the car is on the hoist.
