View Full Version : Fog Lights on GS
Ok, E-bay has Foglights with "OEM Fitment"
Its something i've really wanted. Eventually I think i'd convert them to xenon's, at the same time as my lobeams, But thats another thread later on!
How hard is it to install? When I had the bumper off to replace the horn, I noticed it was pre-wired. I wasn't able to follow this to the source, but can i use these wires, or would i have to run fresh ones and grab power from god knows what circut to a switch where the empty slots for buttons i couldn't afford to buy when i got the car? (Lower Left, where the dimmer is)
FlipDady, I saw an earlier thread (2004???) saying the Mazda way was to replace the entire turn signal/highbeam.... control lever. Is there alternatives? Could you price me out an OEM solution?
I can get the fogs off e-bay for 130 delivered (assuming i don't get raped by customs/brokerage fees) How hard is it to get through the firewall?
Sorry for playing 20 questions here, but I don't want to sink the money if it won't work the way I want :-)

That might help you with the difficulty of the install. You should be able to use the existing wiring. I have mine set up to one of the blanks at the left. I heard from others that you can buy an OEM left stalk, but that's much pricier.

Oh...not quite sure what they changed in the 2007...but I don't think the install would be that much different.
Wow. That is exactly what i wanted to know! and with a How-to! Perfect! :-) Buying the kit today. Now i'm off to work!
Thanks!
Hrmmm Just realized I'm going to have to wait until Payday :-(
And perhaps some WARM weather *shakes fist at mother nature*
As well... I'm assuming this install method allows me to leave them on 100% of the time, but have it shut off with the car? Do you know if this is the case?
Thanks again!

They're going to be wired to be on when the low beam is on. Look up "independent foglights" to have them separate.
OK, looking at this one:

I can't tell if it has a blub included or not... i asked the guy a question... as well as 3 other people on e-bay. No answer. Turning me off of doing this if thats the kind of support they provide for their products!

Well it is, pretty much plug and play. I did get McGuyver to do it and I believe it only took like 30 mins tops.
ok thanks for the quick info...i just got one more question for you...do the fog lights on these cars pump alot of light out?

I would say not much. I mean you can tell if they are on or not but I think they are more for aesthetics than anything.
AGreed. Maguyver is the way to go. Installed mine. As for light output - They do not project light very well. If anything it lights up the curb better than the road infront of you. However, they are VERY visible and appear bright to other cars. So it does have some safety merit (other than looking dead sexy)

Hey guys. My friend is selling his mazda 3 and is giving me his 17inch wheels and Foglights for free. His is an 09 and I have an 08. Both are itouring. His fog lights are the rounded ones. Anyway, Putting the new rims on is easy enough, but I have no idea how to install the fog lights and many other forums keep telling me i have to mess with wiring and splice cables and stuff. I stumbpled upon this thread now. So let me get this straight, you guy are saying that my 2008 M3 iTouring is prewired for the foglights? All I have to do is get underneath the car and plug the lights in then go to to the deash to the left of the steering wheel and install the switch?
