I am looking at the Borbet Type XL (w/ black accent) wheels. The only place pretty much I can see to find them for sale is from www.tirerack.com (http://www.tirerack.com) (located in Indiana). With shipping and all additional charges, its going to cost about 1100$ just for the rims (18"). Does anybody know of a place closer by that would sell these so I can take a look at them in real life?

try Tires23, or any tuning shop around your area. they'd be able to get you your rims for much cheaper.

I contacted Tires23 and they would be willing to sell them for 1100/set taxes in. Which is conveniently the exact price tirerack.com is selling them for (including taxes, shipping, duties, etc).

Hey folks, I came across these wheels on tirerack and I really do like them, I'm not too familier with the brand Borbet other than that they're German. Anyone know whether these guys make a quality product or what?

Well I'm a n00b when it comes to tires/rims so if you say 23lbs is not lightwight I believe ya. So an ideal weight would be something under 20lbs then?

Well after looking at the rims on the black hatch in M3F, it pretty much sold me and I ordered these yesterday with Kumho 225/40/18, they have already been shipped out today and I can't wait to put these on with my pro-kits. :bana2:bana2:bana2

funny, this is not the first time i've heard that. bargain. tell them you'll pay cash. If they don't budge on the price, then leave....when you show up in person with cash in hand, it gets things moving i find.

Borbet has been aroudn for quite awhile. I think they are middle tier. I can't comment too much about them, but i remember seeing them alot on BMWs and VWs in magazines back in the 90s, not so much anymore...

17pounds is a light 18" wheel....

17lbs for an 18" wheel would be pretty expensive i'd think without sacrificing quality/name. You'd probably have to get forged. 17lbs for a 17" is already consider pretty good. I would say 19lbs for an 18" wheel would be already considered light and without breaking the bank.

SSR 18x7.5 is around 17lb <== $2200
ultraleggera 18x8 is around 18.4lb <== $1700 (incl everything @ simple tire)

both are nice rims and light without break the bank, well, its only compared to stocks(~24lb).

but for 17", 15~17lb is light weight compares to stock 17"s. b/c rubber on 17" is heavier from 205/50/17 to 225/40/17, and they are part of wheel weight as well.

I haven't had any time to go to any meets due to my work schedule. If I can I would prolly make it to the La Paloma meets as it's close to my home.

That was what I was hoping for when I originally found them was the contrast and really glad it worked out. For me these rims are sorta like a sleeper, not too much bling but enough to sweeten the ride.

FINALLY! I've been looking at these rims for months now and trying to find a Mazda 3 wearing them or at least a carbon grey car with them. They're starting to catch on and I'm glad to see that these do indeed look nice.

Thanks for the pics btown-mazda.

Be carful buying them online there!

$240 + $330 = $700CDN+ on your credit card (roughly 25%). Now factor in any duties, brokerage and customs fees. I would say 750-850 easy.

They're like the Borbets but are replicas, still look nice though. Damn I miss my wheels, can't wait to put them on in the spring.

they shouldn't have made the replicas universal 5 holes, without the holes on the spokes will make the spokes cleaner and that split on the spokes could have extended to the center like the Borbets. Still looks good though.
