hi fellas - great forum here.

i am getting a Speed3 this summer (metroplitan grey)...anyways, i am wondering if i can use the 17" OEM wheels with winters that i currently have on my '06 GT on the Speed3

are there are any brake clearance issues etc....if there are - then i will just get rid of the rims/tires when the lease is up on the GT

i am assuming that the 17" will be fine on the MS3

I got 16" steelies....as small as you can go. Will be purchasing snowflakes 17's sooner or later for next winter.

I was lucky and got my hands on used 17" steelies and winters for $220... (hehe)
However the 17"ers you have are fine.

yeah - my 06GT is coming off lease in June and my rims are in perfect shape

i want to buy a set of used 17" OEM rims and even if they have a little curb rash etc i can put them on the car and turn it in and keep my good set of rims with winters and use them for the Speed3....that's the plan anyways

'zact same situation...picked them up quick time after I got the car cuz of this yr's crazy weather...looking for 17" snowflakes for next yr...kinda fitting dontcha think...and I if I can get them cheap, I might even powder coat and bake on a layer of Brownells TEFLON/Moly Gun Finish so the road grime will just fall off...

Just rims or with tires?

Used snowflakes Ive seen anywhere from 300-600$ depending on condition and tires or not.

with tires.... like mine LOL it's just i'd like to look for rims and want to know how much i'll be shelling out if I sold the snowflakes since I don't know what to do with it if ever I changed my rims... not selling them right now though... just want to know... and they're in perfect condition, no scratches, tires are still good, 4500kms on them for now.

lol I see well it's totally up to you...some people sell the speed3 rims for 1000+ so it's how bad you want to sell like my 16's I paid 340 for them and want to get rid of them so I ll let them go for cheap...when time comes...

Selling/buying wheels/tires is not an easy task.

As a seller, you always want top dollar. If you post high however, you get no bites or a sale. You post low and you have to beat them off with a stick.

As mentioned above, it is what the seller believes they are worth compared to what you are offering.

A lot of people up here are selling rims, rims with tires and the price fluctuates. Everyone would like to buy at the nice $300 - $400 range however realistically wheels/tires are posted up in the $1000 mark.

I think everyone has to consider the following points:

1. What is the wheel or tire worth brand new out the door from the dealership or tire shop
2. How used is the wheel/tire you are getting. Sometimes the phrase "too good to be true" comes into play here and the buyer be ware is a true statement.
3. Is it a wheel only or wheel/tire combination.
3. What is the market like. A pair of rare RX8 Shinka wheels up for $1000 now before spring might well be worth it. Try again in fall and you'll be posting the 4 sale a lot longer.

Just my thoughts on watching the forums over the past few months with people looking to buy/sell wheels. People are complaining about the price being posted for Speed Wheels or even RX8's.

If you are interested in the price someone posts or want to haggle, do it via PMs. There is way too much flaming going on for someone posting up a high price on a product. Two sides to every coin.
