Alrite ive been debating on my mind for days now if i should get my Stock 17's 5 Spokes Painted Gunmetal I Have a Black Sedan with the 07 look which includes the Chrome grill. Below is a pic of my ride and the pic of gunmetal rims.
Your opinions and suggestions would be gladly appreciated. :)

Not a black fan, I'd say gunmetal. Black would be too close to the car IMO.

I say do should look good. I was thinking of doing mine too, but I think I'm gonna test on my winter steelies first, lol. Don't really mind if I mess those up.
Here is a quick rendition, rims taken from Walrus's ride.
Not a great job, but you get the idea

I've looked and looked, but still can't find gunmetal oem 17s on a black mica in this forum....YET!:bang:complain:rant:flaming
I will continue trying and will update when/if I am successful.:)
But for now, here it is on a titanium grey. That is the closest I could find.

Rally, heads up that the way you 'encoded' your plates can be decoded. just erase it entirely if you don't want your plates public

Fuman- I Really dont care if someone has my plates next time il just completely blank it out thx for the heads up
KingRukus- thats my big dilemma i like the stock silver look as well but its getting too common
Thx for the photoshop M3 !!! =)
LOL, thanks. I know, I know, it's a crappy job, but what the hey, I spent 5 min on it.
Don't do it bro. Not only is gunmetal getting to be overdone, its not the same when its just paint. On black Gunmetal doesn't give the pop it does on other colours.
Do something that will stand out and show off the car a big more. My suggestion (other than getting aftermarket rims) would be to get the face machined. That would look incredibly hot on a black car like urs and would bring out the trim on the headlights, taillights and chrome grill.

How much would it aprox cost to getting the rims machined that looks really good my stock rims are missing something and this would go well with the chrome grill i have.

PM me when you guys plan on doing this, I'd like to see the process, in the event I decide to do this myself.
Hmmm its up in the air price wise, but any rim refurbishing place would do it. I wouldn't not guess more than $500 tops. Call around and ask, its probably cheaper.

:agree with 3GFX, gunmetal is so last decade, the machined stock would sit nice on your black M3

I was thinking of doing this same thing to my Supra's rims but with powder coating. Then I heard of a place here in Belleville called Chromecraft. He can chrome anything with this new process and can even tint the chrome colours. I may go with a black chrome now instead of power coating gunmetal grey. The price was very similar too, I think just over $100/rim if I remember correctly. Just something to think about maybe...
If you want a contact number I have it somewhere. I realize Belleville may be a little out of the way for most.

Interesting il take a look into into it..... do u have any after pics of this chrome tinting..... im not big on the bling bling i like the more subtle look... but its worth looking into....the powdercoating procedure costs me 250$ and it will fix all the small scratces and small discolour in my rims....
So Far options include
Machined
Powdercoating
Chrome tint
Still leaning towards powdercoating though.... iul make my decision and go for one of the options ened of this month

I'm not into bling either myself. That's why I would go with either the black or grey tinted chrome. Just google black chrome to see how that looks. As for the other colors I'm not too sure. The net must have lots of pics of these things.

I think the machined rims look hawt.
I think gunmetal looks great on a black car too.

Dude.... save your money and buy a nice set of lightweight 17" wheels !!! There are tons of wheels out there that you can do for less than $700.00...

Machined looks great. Pantherwheels from BC did that.
just at out of curiosity, did anyone see gunmetal snowflakes? how would that look?

I'm in the same debate as well with my MS3 rims.... polished or gunmetal?

I tend to agree with Allen, there are lots of nice rims out there - sell your old ones, recoup some of the cost, may actually balance out in the end (although the machined look is nice too).

#10 doesn't look bad actually. I guess it goes better on certain colours more then anything.
