i have the cpe tbe system (speedbaby/mps) which i love but found for the occasional time that i had to pick up an exec from the airport or whatever to be a little to abnoxious for my liking especially on the hwy because you can fix part of the problem by keeping your foot out of it :chuckle

The solution:
Got a 3" vibrant resonator from Pat (thanks pat +1) and i am happy the results. Installed at JPG Exhaust for $50.

The result
WOT - no percievable difference which is good becuase i like that part
Startup - no percievable difference, pops and gurgles that i was worried about losing are still there, which is good becuase i like that part
hwy - about 5-10% less noise at steady speed
off gas - 10% + less drone, much quiter

video uploading to youtube with before and after clips

Wide Open Throttle :)

Resonators are in the simplest form like Mufflers.

From Vibrants page:

- Designed to dampen exhaust noise without restricting exhaust flow.

- Feature Vibrant's "True Straight Through" perforated core, surrounded by our premium sound absorption materials.

They are quite inexpensive, between $55 and $90 (+Installation) depending on size and type. Shoot me a PM on what you're looking for :)

man, that's one excellent comparison vid. overall, sounds at least 20-30% quieter at least from the clip. & not far off from stock at certain powerbands.

Ya I like it, at WOT i can't tell a difference so it is nice when you are on the loud pedal but for DD duty it is closer to stock

Did you get the Ultra-Quiet resonator? That's the one that I installed on my OEM MS3 exhaust. Made about a 10-15% difference.

I highly recommend this mod if you want the gains of a TBE without busting the sleeper bubble completly. i believe the Cobb TBE will come this way as the pics they showed have a reasonator in the same spot that i had this one welded in.

Talk to Pat if you're interested

As WeatherB was asking...at which point of the exhaust did you install the resonator?

if you look underneath there is a cicular opening where the cobb one is in their pics, that is where mine was installed

I noticed on SU's site that you can add a 6" resonator and/or a 12" muffler. Did you have these before you added an additional resonator?
