oh, we had a boosted acura in the shop today, just an EL, so its pretty much a civic, and it had a D16, so a SOHC 1.6L.
so i asked him how much power he made, and he was like, well the kit says it'll bring my horsepower up to about 160-170 whp.
i almost laughed at him. thats close to what our mazda3's make. and he said the kit cost 5 grand!!
but hey, he passed the etest, and i was impressed.

Lol maybe he ment 160-170 more.. Otherwise what a waste of money hahaha
That 3 sounded like a mean little b***h. Just mean. Wow.
It'd have to be to do an 11.9 as well!

i dunno. he was just running 6lbs of boost, and you need 14.7 lbs of boost to double your hp. so i'd say 160-170 hp is around right.

I believe 6 - 7lb of boost only makes up for "atmospheroic losses"...basically allowing the engine to do what it's meant to do...but I'm sure someone else has a better explanation than that...
Cool vid...the integra looks like it had a bad launch...

what was the owner's name if you don't mind me asking? I had a buddy with an EL pushing 190whp on his boosted stock D16 running a little over 5 psi. Sounds like someone got ripped off paying 5gs for a setup putting 160hp to the wheels LOL...for that money he could have put in an ITR motor + tuning and making more HP.

Ya Mazda's are great peppy little rides, regardless of boosts and turbos. however, they do sound pretty sick with a blow off valve. GO MAZDA
(OH) bad launch...that's because he's not in a Mazda :bana
