Assuming you have the stock in the off position, that is completely up as far as it goes. If you move it further up the wipers come on to give you once cycle of movement. Let go of the stock and it's back in the off position.

Move it down one and the auto sensor operates.
Move it down one more and you are into what I refer to as the normal cycle of movement.
Move it down further yet and you get the fast moving wiper movement.

Tap it up from the off position and it will sweep the windshield once.
Pull it towards you and it will dispense washer fluid and sweep the windshield 4 times.

Really too bad that the manufacturer doesn't provide some sort of instructional guide or something.. :chuckle

I find this is one too many sweeps. Any way of reprogramming this?

I have to agree. There are times in the winter where it cleans the windshield perfectly after the third sweep and then it goes for the fourth and BANG!

Farking streak mark. And of course it's has to be at eye level.

agreed, it's anoying. My old volvo used to sweep 5 times even for a quick spray, after the 2nd wipe the windshield is dry and clean... after that it's just screeeeeeeeek... :complain

It would be nice to have no auto-wipe with wash at all, like a couple of my older cars!! Hit spray, let it spread then hit wiper for a couple of swipes, worked perfect!.I guess its like the auto-air-cond in any defrost mode...They have taken away most of the manual control we used to have!......sad!

Driving a Skoda in europe I found the best wash/wipe system out there...
It sprays, does 3 wipes then waits 4-5 seconds and does a final one, just perfect every time... Maybe that's too much to hope for though

I wish there was a way to reprogram the turn-switch from an Auto-Rain sensor back to a basic time-delay switch like most cars =/

Try adjusting the sensitivety to low by rotating the end of the stalk. Mine was doing this for a bit but it cleared up after a few days of dropping the sensitivety.

Bringing it back rather than making a new one. My MS3 wipers suck ****ing nuts. No matter at what level I put it on, it starts normal, and goes into super fast, bashing on the window mode. When I say 'bashing', I just mean when the wipers go up to the left, it is like they're going to break off the ****ing stick, and then when they go down, they are a little bit more calm. This bashing has left a nice stain on my windshield. It honestly feels like the RUBBER wiper blades are wearing down the glass in that one spot. lol

Bro watch the F-bombs! Maybe your just not use to auto wipers since you had a Honda before?

It's one of the nice features on the 3's.

To each their own... I have not had the luxury of using them yet, but I am one of those people who rarely use wipers unless it is actually raining, so I could see how it could take some getting used to. However, I highly doubt that the rubber wiper blades would eat through the glass.

cosic try using rain-X. Only if im driving below 60km/h do I need my wipers.

Read the manual :P

I did and am more confused than ever.

You all are saying that by moving the stalk up or down one can change the setting from On to off or auto or whatever .... but the switch ... the thing that goes around not up and down ... has the labels for on off auto intermittent or whatever.

Is something labelled incorrectly ... or don't I understand it ...

:bang

Maybe I need to ask my question ...

How does one use the wipers? ...

When I go through a no-touch car wash I actually have to turn my car off to get the wipers to stop.

I have looked in the manual and am still lost.

I have, on the right of the steering wheel an arm ... stalk ... that has two switches on it.

The arm moves up and down.

The switch at the end of the arm is for the rear window washer ... I think I gottit working ...

The switch on the inner portion of the arm is labelled from the top
mist, off, int, lo, hi and there is a vector showing where the thingy is set ... or so I thought ...

Is this inner switch actually the sensitivity level even though there is a vector which I thought was for setting the action of the wipers?

Please help this confuzzled newby.

Does your wiper switch look as such?

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3022/2546770143_835137e74f.jpg?v=0

Yes that is as it is ...

Thanks for the help

I will double check the next time I need to turn the windshield wipers off as to whether there is a problem or if it was just that I really didn't understand how it worked.

Yeah I'm pretty much old fashioned when it comes to the wiper situation. I never really liked the idea of the auto wipers going off when it's just spitting drives me nuts...anyways there's no way of changing it so you gotta learn to love it...

I never liked the auto wipers either.. it doesn't seem to wipe when I want it to.. half of the time I seem to be fiddling around with the controls because the wiper doesn't wipe when I need it to.. at least with the time delayed wipers you know when they're going to wipe..

that reminds me.. I forgot to use rain-x on my windows last weekend..
