hatch won't open

I don't think I've seen this problem before. Last week I went to open my hatch, which I really don't do TOO often. It's definitely not a daily, even weekly thing for me. But the hatch wouldn't open. So I used the fob again and I could hear the lock sounding like it was trying to open, but again, still locked.

So I tried pressing the fob at the same time I was trying to open the door and finally after about 10 tries it opened. This has been an on-going issue for about a week now, since I've been trying it daily. I think there has only been 2 times that the lock has been ok from the time I unlocked it.

Any ideas why the lock isn't unlocking and what this is going to cost me to fix?

Go to your dealer, and have them check it out... you bought the warranty for a reason.

Spray WD40 then Lithium grease on the lock and hinge before you go taking it in to the dealer, ...may save you some frustration, considering your previous experiences.

I already tried spraying it last week, but that didn't help either.


Biz - will the extended warranty even cover that? Hell - I don't even remember what my extended warranty covers..I only bought the first "extra" package I think.

Only a bumper to bumper warranty will cover a problem like that! Can you find any papers for your extended warranty? If not the dealer from whom you bought the vehicle would have that info for sure.

*$%@*$%* I HATE ALL THE DEALERS IN MY AREA!!!

Well, Ajax is too booked up to see me at all until late next week, and the lady who does the appointments was making up excuses again (which she always does everytime I want an appt).

So...I guess I'll be going to Scarborough or something now, because I kinda need to get INTO my hatch.

EDIT: I won't be going anywhere apparently because all the dealers seems to be booked until at least Monday.
