I won't have pictures to put up yet since I'm at work but I'll get them up ASAP. I threw on the summer rims and now with the pro-kits I'm rubbing. Over large bumps (and a little at full lock) I'm rubbing.

Its nothing drastic, I'm not rubbing the fender and its only in the front. It rubs two spots (so far as I can tell (I'm gonna lift er up)). They are essentially just plastic pieces just inside the quarter panel. I can drive hard on a smooth road and it won't rub so I'm not overly worried. Its only over bumps :whoa.

:flaming I might also explain that a large pothole managed to get me hence why I had to switch to the summer rims so soon. I've bent two steelies, one enough to lose air. :complain Thank you 427 roadcrew! I might actually try and claim it.

So I'm running 225/40/18 45ET (offset) 7.5" side 18" rim.

Any advice (legitimate advice please!).

Anyone else had this similar issue? What can I do with this plastic fender piece to get it to not rub?

how are you rubbing now? didnt you have these rims all last year?

how long have you had the prokits? maybe they settled just a little bit over the winter to cause the wheels to rub?

Have your fenders rolled.

Have your fenders rolled.

I think he's referring to the wheel well plastic liner (black) inside the wheel well, and NOT the fender.

Dave...... i remember you got different rotors right? normall with that spec you wo'nt be rubbing. BUt maybe because of the rotors are different from OEM and they are thicker which causes the wheel to sit out a little more causing the out of spec

Very good point. I would have never thought of that!!!

WOW...this is prolly one of those tidbit of info that'd deserve a sticky...like a running tab on the differences amongst different hubs vs. stock/OEM. This will come in handy esp for the adventurous few...any one got 18 x 8.5" not rubbing now? You might when you change rotors!

Wow, I didn't think of that. I don't know if thats the major cause though, because I'm pretty sure the rotors were very close to stock. I didn't rub on stock springs but I wasn't as succeptable either.

I'm driving much more carefully and not having any issues with the rubbing, but rolling the fenders might be in the cards just to be safe. I've also considered switching to 215/45/18 but I don't think it would do enough and I can't justify a new cost.

Another option E39 suggested would be to install spacers to raise the car a bit.

To clarify, I don't rub the fenders. Just the protruding pieces of the plastic on the inside, and only in small areas.

These rims have never rubbed before, but its always been a concern.

I'm gonna take pics asap cause I'm lovin the look, and she still performs great.

Any other ideas or suggestions or mallets out there?

raise the car? why not just add a little tiny bit of negative camber so you wo'nt rub? that tiny bit won't cuase your tire to wear 20x faster. and its cheaper and effective

So far its been alright, I've still got to get an alignment done so we'll see what I can do about that. I'll see if I can run the most negative camber within spec on the fronts and I'm sure that will help the situation a bit. Rubbing on the inner fender isn't an issue I'm not even close from the looks of it.

I haven't gotten around to taking pics of where its rubbing, but the rubbing doesn't actually happen anymore because I'm driving more carefully. But here are the pictures of the dented steelie thx to the wonderful roads around the GTA:

Trim back the plastic?

Ouch...glad I made it out this winter with no rim damage. I know some of the potholes I hit were pretty big too.

At least it's just a steelie or two.
