View Full Version : So, it finally happened

My first problem with my 3.

Not sure what the heck is the problem. I was driving home from work today, beautiful day. I stopped at a stop sign, and as I accelerate the car just bogs down. Goes right the way down to 0 RPM, engine still runs, no CEL. Step on the gas a little, it's ok then it bogs down again.

So I turn off the car, and restart it a bit later. Runs ok, then starts acting up again.

No idea what's happening.

Any body have an idea what it might be?

P.S. I popped the hood as the engine is running, and it's just chugging away. Rumbling really hard.

AEM intake? MAF sensor maybe.

that would be my guess as well. Check the MAF wires, make sure there is some slack to it.

That's what I thought. But I checked and it was ok.

It seems to bog down as it shifts, so my suspicion is the transmission is f-ed.

My crazy car did that once too. Then it was fine. Sigh....

If I take it to Davewood Mazda; whom I hear are mod-friendly. Do you think they'll give me a hard time for my intake?

Sounds like MAF. What filter are you using on your intake? Have you cleaned it or reoiled it at any point? Excess oil and it sticking on MAF sensor could be the cause of it...

MAF or poor vacuum.

check ur maf sensor and make sure your gas cap is tight. Oh and if you have a CAI make sure its not wet.

I drove it today, and it was fine. It acted up once when I was driving slow. I got my old man to come and try driving it and he couldn't tell there was a problem.

I took a look at my CAI, and filter ; it was pretty clean imo. Took it on the highway later on and it was running fine.

It might have been what Bent had, but went away. Aznkid, does your car still act up? It's one of those ifty problems I'm worried about because i don't know the cause. No CEL, no nothing. I'd hate to be driving 120 some day, and the entire car just stalls on me.
