How long do the stock tires last?
Approximately 40k on the wife's '06 stock tires.
Thinking of doing a swap for her.

it depends on how you drive. if you have tread left its fine.

RS-A is designed for around 100k, but i felt they wear out much quicker than that, i will say after 40k, you should change them for safety issue.

with a two years old tire, the rubber is still good for street. It really depends on how much tread the OP has left.

On my jetta, the old set lasted to 60k but was absolutely terrible in rain and no good for snow. Replaced it because it sucked in heavy rain. Yokohama AV100's were awesome in heavy rain.

The sooner I wear out my set, the sooner I can get something better.....

I don't know why mazda chose such a crappy OEM tire. The VW Rabbit rides on Continental ContiSportContact (something like that) and those were awesome. More expensive, like double in retail price. both cars are competing in the same price range.

I almost bought a GS but the 16" toyo tires were awful so i went up to GT with a less awful tire of the two.

My RSA's, lasted less than 80K of which half the mileage was on my winters, so good for less than 40K
