Well, I finally got around to doing it. I've had the TurboXS downpipe for a few weeks now, and finally got around to going over to Street Performance and having it installed.

First of all, it matches up to the Vibrant DP Back Exhaust perfectly, it even comes with a nice copper gasket that seals it well. Car now sounds more aggressive, especially when at WOT.

I had some fuel cut on the way home, but not since, I think it may have still been learning.

Butt dyno says I'm getting at least the 20HP others have seen.

The DP is truly a work of art. Nice cast end housing and great looking pipe section with flex pipe in there for ease of install. As always Jimmy did a great job on the install, taking his time so as not to overlook or miss anything.

We now carry the TurboXS line, and like I said, this matched up with a Vibrant is a great TurboBack option.

Downpipe, $325 + taxes. Package pricing available with the Vibrant CAT back.

excellent combo, with the vibrant it is the best priced cated tbe around. it will take the ecu a tank or so to learn the changes, and if you're like me and had the recall reflash done in the fall that may be causing your problem as i never had fuel cuts before then but i have since had another reflash done which seems to have fixed it.

nice setup pat

Hasn't reoccurred since that one time so it might be okay :)

I'm more occupied with trying to get a squeaking sound gone from the front passenger side of the car right now. Going back to Jimmy's tomorrow to see if we can kill it :)

I've also got an upgraded HP CDFP that needs to be installed ;)

Very nice! getting geared up for the stage 2 I see.

Are you seeing any extra smoke from the exhaust?

How long was the install?

CanadaGTO
04-22-2008, 12:46 PM
No extra smoke that I've noticed, especially at idle where some have it. Install was a couple hours, and I'd definately recommend having Jimmy do it. It would be perfect for your setup :)

Remarkably no cell yet.

I get mine installed tomorrow. I got the one from Vince so it doesn't have the flex and it didn't come with the copper piece you were talking about. Vince said it just uses all the stock adapters.

Hmmm..... Did it come with the adaptor to hook up to the stock midpipe? Mine did. If you're hooking up to the stock midpipe and want it you can have it. The instructions I have (I can scan em if you want) clearly state that you need the adaptor to hook up to stock midpipe and copper gasket for aftermarket midpipe or DP back exhaust.

I really hope this doesn't mean I can't get my pipe installed tomorrow if I don't have the adapter...I already confirmed the appointment today and booked the time off work. That's a lot of money lost for me if I can't get it installed. Vince, you sure it didn't need an adapter?

Just got mine in today. Sounds like there is a leak somewhere, small sputtering under WOT. Jimmy put sealant on the side of the spacer against the new DP, but not on the stock MP side with the stock donut, I don't think. I'll worry about it when I get the Vibrant installed. It isn't too bad.

Is this a lot louder than stock? I'm referring to TurboXS dp w/o cat w/ stock exhaust...

comparing this combo w/ CPE DP CATTED, w/ stoock exhaust...

man, you are killing me here. i am fighting myself with unknown-COBB-DP vs. on the market DPs. should i wait for COBBs?

I was considering the same thing. The COBB will undoubtedly be a great piece, and I will get some in once they are on market, but I am impressed with the TurboXS piece, and it's a bargain at the price.

Pricing update in first post.

^^^ same and too bad we can't compare the Cobb's piece noise levels with the others either...

By the looks of it, the Turbo XS DP retains both stock cats?

I love how some questions gets 2 or multiple answers but no one can say going catless in the DP is much louder...

I guess questions that don't generate sales are not important...

........I guess questions that don't generate sales are not important...

Hmmmm, this being the internet I'm not sure if that's supposed to be a personal attack on me or not?? I think I answer many questions on this forum and in person to members that do not involve sales......

Anyway, when I took Vlad for a ride in my car yesterday and he said he thought that the TXS/Vibrant combo was not as loud as his CAT'ed CPE, but I think it's close enough to not be much of a difference.

You're best bet would be to actually hear for yourself, just like how I showed 2 yesterday that were interested.

Thanks Pat...it's the internet...it's NEVER personal...

Thanks for the answer...I'll keep searching....a guy's gotta do what he's gotta do to find what he needs...just kinda moronic if I drove all the way to Brampton from downtown to chk out some guy's exhaust (death sentence by fiancee, most likely not by Unga Bunga) thought my fellow MS3's would be more helpful than not...

Enjoy your ride and the weather today.

Sound level and type can seem different from person to person. What may be too loud or "droney" to one may be great for another. I don't think they'll be any good alternative other than hearing it for oneself.

I will say that I've sold 2 combo kits for the TXS/Vibrant to people who've actually heard it first, I'm sure that says something positive about it.

What's the approximate cost to have one installed?

CanadaGTO
04-24-2008, 05:32 PM
Install of any DP is a quite involved process, needing to take off the intercooler, heat shields and the mid pipe of the exhaust.

Contact Jimmy at Street Performance for install pricing, he's by far the lease expensive and has done dozens of DP installs.

The TurboXS downpipe wasn't so much louder last night, but this morning it was a bit louder and on the drive home from work it was much louder than stock, and I even started getting a lot of the gargling and popping I love when decelerating. I have about 75km on the new DP so far. There's a small leak somewhere in the exhaust, I guess where it mates with the mid-pipe. I'll worry about that when I get the Vibrant mid-pipe back, though.

I'm guessing that I would be one of the two that heard the exhust that day,
SOLD, SOLD, SOLD. Hoping to have the combo by sometime next week. :chuckle. Thanks again Pat for the help on my BOV questions and taking the time to show me your set up. And it was nice to meet you alhope.
From what I been reading, I guess your going with the vibrant as well.

sorry for bringing this back from the dead, but i was just wondering with the guys that have installed the turbo xs dp. Have any of you had cel come on due to the dp. I am looking into getting the combo package after someone offered me a ride in their car...(not going to name names *cough Pat cough*)

CanadaGTO
12-13-2008, 11:59 PM
As with any aftermarket DP I've heard of (yes, all of them) you run the chance of getting a CEL. It's an informational one that is due to it not sensing the correct CAT between the 2 O2 sensors. Even aftermarket ones that have a CAT seem to throw this CEL every once in a while. It's does not do anything to the mapping of the car and can be easily cleared.

I had the CPE Catted DP for a summer and a half... never had a any CEL's if that helps
