Lumbar support won't stay in position

The lumbar support won't stay in position. Basically, the only thing that is keeping it from flipping back is friction between the seat and the lever.

Any idea how hard it is to get to the lumbar mechanism? Has anyone pulled the covers off of their seats? I know I could take it in and get it dealt with under warranty, but if it is simple to get at it might take less time to just fix it myself. Plus, I run the risk of the car being damaged. (The workshop manual isn't overly detailed about pulling the seat apart -- it skips pulling off the seat cover.)
