your rims are only meant to take 205 width tires, some may stretch it to 215 but 225 is pushing it a little bit.

How wide are the stock wheels? The RSX comes with 205/55/16's but I know a couple people running 225/50/16's on them with no issues. They look a bit wider than they should be, but they're perfectly safe.

Looks like the width range for 225/45/17 is 7" to 8.5", so no, they won't fit.
225/45/17 needs 7.5 to 9.

225/45/17 needs 7.5 to 9.
Did you just make that up? Where'd you get it from?

lol...i was wondering the same thing as well. 225 should be put on a rim of at least a 7inch rim and max 8 inch rim. 9 will be going WAY too far. 9 will require you run 255.

According to TireRack, 8.5 is ok for 225/45/17.
They also say 9" is ok for a 225/40/18.

Interesting, though I'd still go with the manufacturers recommendation for whatever specific tire you're considering rather than a generic calculator.

As mentioned, the stock wheels are too narrow for those tires. It has nothing to do with whether they'll rub on anything.
