Hey guys, I was broken into today. Nothing was stolen but they went in through my rear passenger window.

This is the second time I have been broken into at this station, the last vehicle I lost 1500 worth of stereo equipment and it was written off.

If you can help it do NOT park at this lot, it is clearly not isolated incidents. There are a few 3's in this lot, and one speed 3 if you guys post on this forum please please please consider parking somewhere else.

Sorry to hear that Dave, that's gotta be the worst thing to happen. I used to think and worry about the same thing, as i also park at streetsville. (well, used to)

Last year when i started my new job in downtown toronto I bought a red speed 3. My first post on this forum was asking people whether or not there should be concern parking at streetsville and at go trains in general.

I'm glad i followed my instinct and kept my 99 altima instead of selling it for a measly 4k... so i drove that everyday to the station.

i've seen a nice lowered white 3 and i see the red speed 3 parked on the "other" side of the lot often.
i don't think they're on the forum though.

for me, my job moved to brampton so now i can drive the speed 3 occasionally when i feel like burning some gas lol

anyways dave... hope it doesn't happen again to you. these ppl probably broke into your car hoping you had a system in the back...
did they even go "through" your car?
the station sucks cuz it's near streetsville high which is full of a bunch of hooligans

Oh man that really sucks, do you have an alarm. Also I think this is a common thing at most GO stations, I would just try to stay away from all GO station parking lots if possible.

Sorry to hear about that!. I hate parking at the Go Station. You've either got ignorant people who aren't careful when they open their doors, or you've got some asshat thieves who are up to no good.

Do you have an alarm?

an alarm at the go train station is useless. most stations have huge parking lots and there is rarely someone nearby.

some thieves might be deterred, but any thief that knows the go train station knows that even if an alarm goes... the closest person is at least 400m away... and that one person is going to run out to the middle of the parking lot to find out what's happening.

it's sad but ultimately true.

i've seen cars ON cinder blocks with their rims stolen at the go train station.
if someone has the time to jack a car... and steal 4 rims without ANYONE noticing... you know an alarm isin't going to do much more

i've seen a nice lowered white 3

That's me, actually.

I had an alarm on my truck, stuck alarm with the shock sensors on the 3. I am probably going to start driving in to work when its not nice, and riding my bike to the station when it is.

Any recommendations on where to get the window fixed.

oh jeez. don't you park all the way at the back and RIGHT by the bus terminal usually???? and always against the "main" roadway?

out of all the places i thoght you'd be the safest THERE and or by the front of the station. i'm really suprised.

sorry not sure who would be good for you to fix your glass. personally i think active green and ross in streetsville queen/britannia are really stand up guys who also offer good service/price

not sure if they can do glass thoguh

i also use to use jj's auto which is right behind that plaza where the lcbo near the railroad tracks

Haha...

Streetsville grad right here!

hahaha no offence man!! lol i actually almost went to streetsville but transferred to fraser instead cuz i started there in grade 9
seems like a lot of punks though lately in the area.

No offense taken that schools full of punks even when I went.

Yes I always park there most times beside a lowered black civic, hoping if anyone gets hit its her and not me. But I lost :(

good strategy hehe

well good thing all they did was take out the glass... i'd be more pissed if they wrecked up my interior

hope things work out for you going forward. it was like #1 priority for me to stop using the go train aka getting a job out of downtown.

i live in paranoia

what can i say lol
if i ever need to go downtown maybe i'll catch u sometime

GO train parking lots are not that great.

there is not much security.

I work part time for GO, when i used to work at cooksville, someone came to complain to me that their door was stolen.

it was pretty funny, but not for the person it happened to.

some stations have HUGE lots and they are not regularly patrolled nor are they fully covered by cameras. I would suggest not leaving anything in your car when you park at the go station. also parking as close to the station as possible is good. usually it is the people parked way away and out of sight that get broken in to.

I was told by basically the Go transit and the police that they do there best to insure vehicles are not broken into, but sometimes up to 40 vehicles a day get broken into and they can't/won't put all day patrol or put up more cameras (the ones at Streetsville are only for the ticket purchasing office basically).

So... I am not really sure what I am going to do once I get it fixed. I might either drive to work, and pay 10 bucks a day to park.. or ride my bike to the Go station.

I've only made 1 payment on the vehicle and its already been damaged :( Window is setting me back 150 before re tint.

Oh and the downtown job pays for the car so I can't leave :P

Yeah but those are the cars that get scratches all over them from people walking to the station!
